OK, I just received my HP20, put it together and tried it out. The headband is so small that it squeezes my head quite painfully! 
Yes I have extended it to the max length.
I just wore the thing for a few minutes to go to the garage and fill the bird feeders. My head literally hurts.
Other than that, wow, what a tight hotspot! I actually would have sacrificed 50% of the hotspot intensity to gain some more spill, but then again I have the Zebralight for flawless flood / close range work.
For cyclists I'm sure this is a very good light. I too would like to use it while walking but the headband is more like a torturing device than a flashlight accessory.
