One of my L1P's came with a potted / loctited head.
After reading several CPF posts about boiling, baking etc, I didn't want to subject mine to those. Might damage reflector / electronics.
My simple solution....hairdryer...on HOT.
I held the L1P body / head at the open end, and directed the HOT air from hairdryer at the head threads.
Just about when it got too hot to handle, I grasped head and body between hands, and twisted.
It moved ! Not a lot, probably around a few mm. But no more.
I heated again, no movement.
However, after it all cooled down, I gave a big twist, and it came apart easily, presumably initial twist broke the seal, and cooling allowed for better grip and some slight change in diameter of head.
After cleaning debris, with toothpick, I now have unpotted L1P.
Easy peasy.....
