I've had an L2T for about a year now. I've been extremely satisfied with it, it's survived multiple drops from almost a story high. The high mode still works just fine, but it wont switch to low mode. There are times when I can briefly get low mode by turning the head back and forth, but it's very picky and will usually flicker on and off. Has this happened to anyone else? I've cleaned it several times and it never changes anything. I've never had any problem with high mode though. It's a minor problem, but I just received my L2D and am wondering if this will eventually suffer the same fate.

What kind of batteries are you using ? I've heard of issues on low mode with lumapower's LM301 with 14500.

"...But not for 14500 protected or unprotected batteries as Low runtime is affected."

Found this too:

The input voltage of Fenix L2T is 0.9V-4.0V. You CAN use 1.5 volt lithium batteries with this flashlight, but NOT 3.7 volt rechargeable lithium batteries.

Could be contacts in the head switch. This is a bit from the P1 CE advertising:

"The P1 CE is ...
The CE version now sports the following improvements:
- Improved contacts for a reliable twist switch "

Could be your switch is old school.

I've been using duracell 2650 rechargables in this for as long as I can remember. It acts the same with fresh alkaline batteries too. I've cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol several times, it never changes anything. If I never tried to use the dim mode, it would be impossible to tell anything is wrong with this flashlight. So I cant imagine it's a problem with contacts.

Well, then you're probably getting into things like a cracked circuit board (trace) or a bad solder joint that's causing a mostly bad connection. Big drops could do something like that. I think the new L2D will be fine.

For the record, the same thing happened to my friend's L2T running lithium AAs. After hitting the bezel several times with the palm of his hand, both levels began to work fine. How the light is now, I have no idea.

Sounds like it's worth contacting the dealer or manufacturer.

I had a similar symptom with an L1T - both modes worked with Duracell, but only turbo worked with Rayovac. The button was just a little larger on the Rayovac. If yours doesn't work with the same batteries you used before, or new alkalines, it's not the same problem.

Low mode works through the conductivity of the head threads on the body threads. If those are dirty or out of round from a hard drop, that could break the connection. High mode works by the circuit board bottoming out on the end of the battery tube. Try cleaning those bare threads first.
