I've read a few threads here that seem to imply that driving the fenix lights with lithiums is not necessarily a good idea. Is this correct? I'm looking at giving some as gifts but intended to include a couple spare lithiums for infrequent use. Also, planned to use them in my own purchases as well as some rechargeables but am now concerned. Is there a reason not to use lithiums? (L1D, L2d, P2D, TK10, E01)
Thanks for any feedback.

The L1D, P1D-CE, P2D, and L2D don't work well with Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries(3.7v vs 1.5v, the L2D will be damaged if not destroyed by 2 14500 Li-ion batteries) but they work fine with their respective normal Lithium primary batteries.

Gotcha.........guess I won't admit that I didn't even know lithiums came in rechargeables. Thought they were all NIMH.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Teesh,

There's primary lithiums that comes in AA/AAA that you could pick up at your local drug store, and there's the rechargable lithium-IONs.

The store-carry primary lithiums are not rechargable and are 1.7v. You could uses these for your Fenixes AA/AAA variants. It's very considerate of you to throw in spare batteries along with the flashlight, and I think the lithiums are good choice since Akaline's performance on these lights are terrible.

Then there are the AA/AAA size lithium-ION rechargable batteries, 14500, and 10440, respectively, that carries 3.7v. If you put them in your flashlight, it won't go :poof: immediately, but will shorten it's life dramatically (and void warranties). I wouldn't recommend using them, and especially giving them to non-flashaholics as gifts. I know some members here use the Lithium-Ions on their fenixes, but you'll lose all the modes except for turbo and strobe ... kind of defeats the purpose of its multi-functional design.

For yourself, you may want to consider getting low self discharge (LSD) NiMh batteries such as the Sanyo Eneloop. You could keep these batteries in your lights for a long time and they'll still have juices left when you need to use the lights.

Hope this helps. Also, :welcome:

Edit: By the way, I know of a super cool member here who's looking to sell one of his Fenix L2D at the Marketplace
