Had this for awhile, been using it a lot & now I have a pretty good feel about how I feel about it.

I seriously doubt this well ever be used for it's intended purpose; a dive light but it has quickly become my most used light. It is intended to aid in underwater photography but works just as well on dry land.

It runs off an 18650 or 2 123a's batteries. Low is 500L, a high of 1000L, both in neutral white & a special mixed white and red at 250L for color balance during under water use. The beam is a wide angle 110 degrees in all settings. It's very even with NO hot spot. It fills a room with broad, clean, even light. Light levels are set by rotating collar & includes a battery check stop. It ships with a multi use mount for most cameras and/or tripods. Missing is a 1/4 20 mount to allow it's use in the cameras tripod mount.

I was afraid that I'd have heat issues since during my use there would be no water for cooling. It has never been an issue during any of my time using the light to date. It is a wonderful picture taking aid. Mostly used at the 500L setting along with my camera set on "backlit" flash, pictures come out shadow & glare free in high detail. With cooling time between set ups the light is seldom on for more than 10 minute at a time. It has never stepped down during use. Published run times aren't great (2hrs on high, 3hr45min low) but well with in dive times most tanks would supply.

Using the light handheld has been eye opening. Throw is limited to about 25yds even on the 1000L level but WOW is it a beautifully lit 25yds. There's no need to move the light around to see the corners of the room, it's filled with light. Set this on your dresser & your bedroom will be flooded from floor to ceiling, wall to wall from about 3ft from the lens. No zoomie I've ever seen can open up like this light pattern. Not sure if the combined red+white would be good for preserving your night vision but it doesn't seem to spook animals. So it might be useful as a trail light.

IP68 rated and approved for depths to 100 meters I doubt I'd survive any thing that would break this light, well built to say the least. I wish they'd make this as just a light for camera use at a lower price but honestly given what photo lighting costs the buy-in isn't bad. Plus this travels and sets up so much easier. You can even used it hand held if you're using a small format camera.

Very happy I took the chance. Great light for photo work land or sea

Haven't been using the light as much lately but I have used it enough to know it eats 123a like candy. If you get this light & plan to use it much .. get a good 18650 battery. Did find a new use for it also .. makes a great work light for short/smaller jobs
