Seems to me these will be the two "Tactical" lights to compare.

While the Fox is said to have the ability to focus (not interested in that feature) the brightness and form factor are what I'm looking at.

The Fox does not have the clip, so duty belt carry may be easier. It also may be a decent light to mount on a long gun.

Based on available information what do the experts think?

My duty experience with a Wolf Eyes Boxer and a second Fenix P2D--the Boxer is reliable and tough against drops and immersion in saltwater. It has good checkering. The Fenix is smooth and unreliable. From that standpoint, I would select anything Wolf Eyes over anything Fenix for anything, especially duty use.

I'm well versed with Wolf Eyes and PILA lights.

I can't afford both at the current time. I think the lack of clip on the FOX puts it into a better form factor for my use. The focusing is something I'll never use. Just set it and forget it.

Lightraven, are you having contact issues with your P2D as well? Or did you mean unreliable as in lack of knurling?

The first P2D worked normally for a week. After that, it failed to go into general mode. It turned off when the bezel was twisted, then back on when twisted back to turbo, but at the opposite mode that it started--High would switch to strobe and vice-versa. All the general modes were non-functional.

The second P2D is, more or less, functional at all levels, but will switch levels with slight movement or come on at a different level than it is supposed to. Sometimes, it just turns itself off. After messing with it, I can get it back on.

I've read other people on CPF have similar types of problems, and I don't pretend that other brands are problem-free, but the Fenix is too much hassle for me.

That's unfortunate to hear, Lightraven. I just ordered a Fenix with a forward clicky (L1T v2). I hope it's flawless.
