Fenix TK20R V.2 or Nitecore P23i? Or something else? (EDC in holster on belt, for general use and potential self-defense)

Hey, I'm currently trying to decide between the Fenix TK20R V.2 and the recently released Nitecore P23i. I want a bright flashlight to carry in (ideally a supplied nylon-) holster on my belt all the time.
The light will be used anytime I need some light, but in the unlikely event that I get into a self-defense situation, it should be useful for that as well, which is why I like the idea of a dual-tail-switch for one-handed operation with direct access to strobe (and ideally also to turbo...).
I like the 3000 lumens and the relatively tight beam that those two lights have, both for effective use at long distance and for their peak brightness to blind in an unlikely yet possible self-defense situation.
The light should come with a powerful battery that can be recharged in the light.

Given that, which of those two lights would you recommend? On a YouTube video for the P23i someone wrote that his light has a dark spot in the middle of the throw... that's something I would really like to avoid. Is that typical for that Luminus SFT-70 LED or does the TK20RV2 have a nice beam without a dark spot or any other artifacts?

Or is there maybe another light that I should consider?

I just picked up a Fenix TK16 v2 (with the E02 as Christmas promotion). I was actually debating on this and and TK20. I figured I'dd save a few dollars and also get the E02 thrown in. I haven't seen the TK20 in person but when I played around with the 16 I was really impressed, a solid light beam, alot of light for the size. I also like the 2 tail switch operation of it.
So going strictly on my uneducated opinion owning the 16, I say you would be happy with the TK20. :)


..... you would probably be happy with either the lights your looking at, lol.

Honestly, I'd say neither. The Nitecore has a low of 50 lumens. The Fenix has a low of 30. A tactical light should have a nice and bright high setting for blinding an assailant, but it also should have a good low to avoid detection. Let's say you blind someone trying to hurt you and then run. Now they are chasing you and you're carrying a bright flashlight that shows them exactly where you are. You need to switch to a low enough setting to avoid detection while still having enough light to not trip and hurt yourself. 5-25 (15 for Surefire) lumens is what you want for a usable low setting. Another light to look at is the Klarus XT21X Pro. It doesn't have quite as much throw as your two options (336 meters), but it's 4400 lumens vs. 3000 lumens. Has a battery bank function to charge your phone in case it goes dead when you get into trouble. Also has a 5 lumen low. Price is the same as the Fenix.

I would rule out the TK22R then: AFAIR the light has mode memory and no shortcut to turbo which, IMO, you'd definitely want for self-defense use.
The P23i, on the other hand, is programmable and has a tactical mode which always goes on in turbo. Even if you accidentally pressed the mode switch, you'd step down to 800 lumens which is pretty bright.

The Klarus recommended by the user above is also a valid option since it has shortcuts to turbo in both tactical and outdoor mode.
