Finally a crookneck LED light

I pre-ordered one of these from Tactical Supply a while back, and I'm also really looking forward to getting it! Steven at Tactical Supply says that the lights are ready to go, but there was a delay in the packaging for them. Please let us know your impressions of this cool looking little light when it arrives! I think I read somewhere that it's using a Nichia Rigel LED, but I can't say for sure...

Someone here was Cree modding lights like that recently. I can't remember who though.

A Cree version would be nice,
And two levels of output. :naughty: Would have been sooo sweet.
But I still like this light a lot, don't know why, but seems to be quite usefull.

Im thinking about getting one of these when I place my order for an A2 aviator at tacticalsupply next week. :grin2:

So I just ordered the light, it'd been tempting me for awhile but the included pouch cinched it. That's a good deal, I've been wanting a molle pouch about this size for a while. It's a twofer!

So, does anyone know if I can use lithium AA with this light. I like the lithiums because I know they'll be good in the hot/truck. I don't want to burn up the led.

Now how do I tell my wife I ordered another light.

I just ordered this now, hopefully it arrives soon and I can post a quick review. Finally someone comes out with a nice little crookneck LCD light. It has a compass and uses AA batteries :)

Please post your impressions once you've had a chance to check it out. I am very interested in this light.

Isn't it amazing that no other company has had the smarts to bring out a small angle-head LED light?

Seems like such an obvious thing for a manufacturer to slightly modify the design of a garden-variety 1AA light that they already make. But, no. Why would a manufacturer *not* want to make a 1AA light that would stand out from the zillions of other 1AA lights on the market?

This light is the only 1AA light I've seen lately that I've been tempted to buy. It looks to have real potential. It may well be the most practical, all around useful 1AA LED light availble.

Thanks for the heads up guys I have been looking for an excuse to order something from countycomm. That way I can add a bunch of other things to my shopping cart that I don't really need.

That's a nice single-celled little one!

The one (AngleLux) that Sir Wayne custom mods is also one to acquire. . .Enjoy!

We had things like that some years ago in the military. ~10 lumens max, 2 x D-cell, run-time ~90 minutes. I hope they've improved them, or they won't sell many.

I used to have one of the army's 2C cell angle head lights. They could be pretty lousy lights even considering the standards of the time. Weak pitiful beam with more dead spots than light, and a switch that worked at its own convenience. I truly think those days are behind us. I'll post my impressions when mine arrives, but it looks like a winner.

I pre-ordered one of these 3 weeks ago on another site, and you guys are already receiving yours. Haven't received mine yet

I have a mil-style 2D anglehead and replaced the bulb with an LED. That made a huge improvement. It's still quite large for convenient carry IMO, but it made a decent light better.

Mine was waiting for me when I got home from work. Here's a quick review:

Construction
-This thing is small, I knew it would be small, it is named Molle light and they have a picture of it in the PALS webbing, but it almost looks like a toy.
-It seems pretty tough. I didn't realize the black body was anodized aluminum. Thought it would be all plastic. That was a nice surprise.
-The clip is VERY secure. The wavy design works, once clipped in it's not slipping out accidentally. The push tabs work well to rotate the clip.
-The compass needle is attracted to the steel clip. To use it you have to take the battery cap off, thus risking loss, debris in the battery compartment, and unnecessarily wearing out threads and o-ring. You can also push the clip off, probably the better alternative, but still maybe too gimmicky.
-The switch is rather hard to push to click on and off. It actually does not click that I can hear or feel. Just stays on when you push hard enough. It does work well as a momentary.

Light
-The beam quality is very good. Uniform with no rings or artifacts that I can see. Fairly tight hot spot with even distribution to sidespill. Good amount of useable light to the sidespill. Overall a good compromise.
-Nice white tint on the cooler side. No color variation around the edges.
-I don't have a meter, but output is similar to primary on my HDS U60XR. About the same as the first level on my LM-301 and a bit brighter than my Princeton Tec Impact XL. Sorry I couldn't be more exact but I would have to say between 25 lumens and the 40 advertised.

Overall, I would have to say that I like the light, especially for its intended purpose of carrying in PALS webbing. I'll carry it around for a while and see how it holds up. I got the light from County Comm so it came with the pouch. Very nice pouch, well built and good positive keeper strap to attach to webbing (doesn't match the color of my Kifaru pack:awman: , guess I can't have everything). The pouch and light were worth the money. It's a neat little setup.

I would agree with every thing you said. I had noticed the compass didn't work, but I didn't realize that it was attracted to the clip.

The button not having a distinguishable click threw me at first, but mine doesn't require pushing hard to activate.

I did the same as you and compared the light to my Ultimate 60 as soon as I got it and it was similar to the primary setting which according to table that I have seen on this forum is around 10 lumens.

Another thing that red filter really cuts the light down.
