Hi,

This is my first post. Haven't really been into torches that often- but a regularly buy things from dealextreme and kaidomain. I saw the Mxdl Cree for only $9.99 and thought I might as-well buy it- a month or so later I receive it and love it. Its quite bright compared to my dads tesco/asda one that takes like 3 D batteries, and also feels good in the hand.

Anyway I'm looking for a really really bright torch just for the hell of it, Ive never had a power cut or go out in the night, I just like having cool stuff- in this case a compact but super powerful torch. I'm also into lasers and plan on ordering that 200mw laser despite it lack of IR filter.

So any Ideas? Ive got $50 to spend, and It has to either take one AA, RC123 or the 14xxx battery that's like 3.6v.
There's been so many torches added recently I just cant make up my mind. At the moment I'm thinking the Dexlight, $40 and its 150Lumens and looks quite tidy- though I cant quite get my head around justifying spending that much money on a torch, never the less, its an option.
Then again there's ones half the price which would probably shoot out just as-much light, light the 3 super/ultrafire rc123 torches that have just been added to the dx site. Also on the dx and kai there is one for $14.99 looks alright. Cant anyone recommend me one? I only really want to order from Kaidomain or Dx if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

I have heard good things about this light:The Ultrafire C3 Cree for $18:

Couple that with a 14500 battery for $6:

and charger for $12:

Your total is $35.50 shipped to the United States.

The advantage of this combination is the versatility of power input: You may use AA Alkaline/NIMH batteries anytime, and when you use the 14500, it's much brighter.

The disadvantage of this combination is the single-mode output: It's always on HIGH, there is no LOW mode. I would rather have a 2 mode light, but that really is up to you, since 2 modes on a light can get annoying.

Some people carry a light for HIGH and a little keychain light for low:

Here's a cheap light in case you're looking for only AA Alkaline or NIMH:

P.S.
DO NOT ORDER THE 200MW LASER WITHOUT THE FILTER. YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE WILL GO BLIND. DO NOT ORDER THE 200MW LASER WITHOUT THE IR FILTER. GET A QUALITY ONE IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, OTHERWISE DON'T RISK BLINDNESS OVER SOME MONEY.

Hey infection0,

Thanks for your advice with the choice of torch and about the 200mw laser, could be dodgy I agree!
Is this one any good? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2821

Looks alright, direct drive, so I would imagine when the battery is fresh off the charger its mega bright...Only $15 too!
$3 more and you get this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3351
It looks better too!

What do you think? I forgot to mention it has to be able to fit on my keychain too.
I'm from the Uk by the way, but the shipping prices are the same, so its all good.

Regards,

Chris

A keychain light that many seem to like is the Fenix L0D-CE, more expensive but runs on AAA and can run on 10440s with lots of light. Medium-Low-High-Strobe-SOS. $42.80 U.S. at fenix-store with the CPF8 coupon.
For 14500 batteries, the Dexlight at Dealextreme seems to be good if it lives up to it's expectations, $45 normal or $40 with invitation code. It also runs on AA batteries and probably RCR123s with an adapter.

Welcome to CPF!
