I was honestly surprised to see the humble little Mag2AA become such a good thrower in the darkness. Now I see why most non-flashaholics are impressed by it.

More surprising is that I recognize the lights we tested by their beam pattern.. I managed to tag most of them. If you guys remember what the others were, let me know.

No mozzies this time. Last week I got a few bites though.

Learned that SLRs are hard to autofocus in the dark because of the contrast-detection AF system they use. There isn't even enough light to manually focus them.

I am starting to get ideas about mounting and zeroing a small red laser pointer on my monopod that's directly aligned with my center AF point. In indoor testing with the laser, it performs extremely well. :D

There were quite many 100< lumens lights and some 500< lumens light. LED and Incan in both categories. I love incan, but LEDs have their places too.

wow, looks like some fun! too bad my weekends (and even weekdays) always damn packed :(

btw, I put up a feeler group buy for HID for Sg CPFers in the group buy section. Do check it out! Thought of getting one of those 24w HIDs for awhile now, so contacted Brightstar straight and price seems reasonable but need a minimum qty.

CEJ, just noticed you do some dealings with lights and all that ... if you can get this in cheaper or less quantity or something, do let me know! :) I basically wanna get 1 for personal use.

I do have some contacts for HID torches, particularly interested in 1 that has HID (Wattage not yet known) in the centre & "surround" by maybe 10+ 5mm LEDs for times when u don't need intense HID brightness. But of course require some min quantity before I can bring them in. Have KIV it for sometime liao becos doubting have enough potential...

That sounds cool! Versatility is always useful although I believe we flashaholics would probably have a 2nd or 3rd torch with low level light options for other uses instead of using the HID torch's low light option ...heh..

I think the min. qty for that is quite high? I'm prob guessing my brightstar group buy won't go thru either... seems like interest is slow...
