Folks,

I'm pretty handy with general automotive/motorcycle electrical maintenance, but I want to check with you kind folks about what I'm doing to all my flashlights.

Today, I just went over all my flashlights (over 100) and cleaned all the contact points and, for those that are loaded, checked out the battery condition/voltage. I then put dielectric greas on all contact points and then used "sil-glyde silicone compound" on all the O rings.

I wasn't 100% sure about the silicone compound on O rings, but I've had good luck with the stuff on all the rubber parts on vehicles.

Did I do good? Many thanks.

The silicone grease is good for O-rings. I use the same stuff divers use for their regulators. My radio control model helicopters have big O-rings in the rotor heads, used as flapping dampers, and they get beat pretty hard. The silicone grease keeps them pliable.

The same stuff works great on my light O-rings.

That's all I do; keep the EDC lights brushed off (lint, etc.) and grease the O-rings every couple of months. Glad you brought this up; I need to grease my "house" lights...
