Hello again, all...
I've been running some tests on various combination of flashlights, drivers and optics.
-All tests were done using a $28 light meter from DX at 3' and all lux readings should be read x10.
-All batteries were Eneloops, charged and allowed to sit for 24-48 hrs.
This first chart shows an SSC P4 USV0H mounted on an H22 heatsink in a M@G "2D" or "3D" body.
-I used a AA>D adapter from DX to run either 2 or 3 AA batteries through Kai's "1AA 3W LED Circuit Board (0.8V-7V)". I used the exact same emitter/driver combo on all 4 tests, with the driver *hopefully* tuned to the voltage of that specific emitter.
-These are all through the M@G reflector, cut down to fit over the hs/emitter and adjusted to the tightest (brightest) spot I could get.
Then I decided to do some more testing; these also use the same light meter at 3' and all using D M@G bodies:
-The optics listed are the 8 degree sold by Kai.
-The buck driver I used was Kai's "Highly Efficient LED Circuit Board (4V-18V)". I soldered a 1ohm resistor on to the board in parallel with the existing resistor, which gave me ~1a output.
-The Romison is a $17 Cree light I picked up on a whim from DX. I'm actually pretty pleased with the light's quality. I stopped this test early at 80 minutes...I was late for work.
Another couple tidbits:
Using the same flashlight, the Fraen reflector gives ~215 lux vs. ~250 for the 8 degree optic. I really like the spill when using multiple Fraens, though.
My Inova T4 put out 165 lux.
I hope this interests some of you...stay safe!
