Hello everybody
My little brother is going to thailand this summer. He will be there for 1 month maybe a bit longer. I want to give him aflashlight. Considering he's not into flashlight at all(so he might abuse and don't take best care of the tool inquestion), weather, length of the trip and all the differents taks he will do with this tool, what should i give him. If you can specify the model it would give me a hand.

Here is a few points to consider:

Weight and size
Waterproof
versatility
battery (ease of finding replacement)

For the budget i can go around 80-100$

Thank you for your help.

Hi, I will recomend you a headlamp, easy to use and leave the hand free to do anything, like you say, I will recomend you as well that you choice a model that use AA batteries. Zebralight and Spark are the most popular this days...

Ive tought about head lamp. I think its a good option. I am canadian, i dont know canadian distributor for zebralight and spark. What do you think about Fenix headband with a single cell AA light? I own one and really like the fact the you have a light dan headlamp all in one.

I dont own Feniex lights, but their are very reliable and good quality, I will recomend as well this brand... I think that a headlamp is the best option, I have many lights, but I use more the headlamps...

Thailand. Consider a top of the line Mini Maglite LED Pro+. 230 lumens on 2AA's with candle mode for those 3rd world country nights with no power (out in the country). I'm not making stuff up, I've been out there, over in 'Nam right next door. And you can get him a $5 jackstrap or headstrap so he can go hands free if needed.

The Nite-ize headband works great with maglites.

The Fenix headband has spots for two flashlights 😉

Or just a "regular" Maglite LED that is readily available would be fine for the described situations. It's only 77 lumens but it's enough. You're just trading lumens for hours (and days) of battery life. With the usable low power, you're talking about a few days of use on 2 AA's.

The Pros have significantly shorter battery life but they'll blind you.
