Hi everyone,

I'm new to the world of LED flashlights, so I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a good flashlight to start with, preferably something in the $60-70 range? It doesn't have to be a miracle-worker, but I'd like my first flashlight to be something of quality. Thanks!

What exactly are you looking for?

Throw?
Output?
Quality?
Runtime?
Size?

How about a Fenix?

I would recommend the L2D-CE Q5. Good output, AA powered, battery tube options(1 AA, 1 CR123, 2 AA) and multimode. There is also a 8% off coupon for CPFers at Fenix Store, "CPF8".

Also look at Lumapower, Dereelight, Liteflix, Surefire, and a few other companies.

I'd recommend a Cree XR-E(P4-R2 bin), Seoul P4 U bin or Rebel 100 light because they are the brighter LEDs.

What lights do you use now? That might help with the decision(There might be a good drop-in or simple mod for whatever light you have now)

:welcome:

a very close second would be Fenix P series, such as the P2D or P3D Q5. That being said the ready availability of AA batteries for the L2D Q5 may make the deal for you.

oh yeah, these things ARE miracle-workers:D

the surefire G2L would also be a good alternative.

Welcome Sir! This pretty much sums it up. Plus they are pretty easy to sell as your tastes change. Enjoy your new world! :tinfoil:

Thanks everyone for the replies, its good to be a part of such a knowledgeable group.

I'd be looking for something that could be powered by AA batteries, as that would be very convenient for me. I will check out the L2D, as that is one I found randomly googling things earlier today. :)
