Thanks I hope I have the time to shop around & do some geocaching.

there's a dollar store on mulberry st. in chinatown that sells some cheapo led lights and lasers.
and that ironworks store on chatham square is a police store, serving the 1st precinct..

I think what I am about to say has already been said by Russianesq, but there is a store in Chinatown "army/navy" something or other, lots of surefires lots of bucks. m6 was 499 (I went last thursday just to see) - they are moving and everything is on sale 20-60 percent off, but not surefires, she tells me, nastily, that she can give me 10 off on the lights, I said give me another 15 off and you might be down to normal prices... then i walked out.

scrappy, you're thinking Iceberg. Different from the one Russianesq mentioned.

The major flashlight carrying stores in Manhattan; in order from downtown to uptown. Websites are for addresses. Some of the websites just suck, but don't reflect on the quality of the store themselves. :)

New York Ironworks

Did I miss any?

I know there are a couple of Eastern Mountain Sports (ems.com) store in Manhattan as well, but not having been to them in awhile. I'm not sure what flashlights they carry, but I'd expect mostly Petzl and Princeton Tec type stuff.

Thanks all, Most of the time when I find myself out of town I just check the phone book for sporting / camping stores. This is much better.

There is a Victorinox store in Westchester Mall (not the Galleria) in White Plains. They have a great assortment of Streamlight and Surefire lights as well as Swiss Army and other knifes. You can take the Metro-North train from Grand Central to White Plains (40 minutes). The Victorinox store is on the top level, in the food court area. The mall is a hefty walk from the train station so you might want to take a taxi to the mall. If you have a better half she can spend the day (and your money) in the mall. They have all kinds of high end stores.

there's also an apple store I frequent there.
my brother in law's a police lieutenant in white plains.

I think that any decent flashlight is going to be overpriced by NYC retailers.

I have not been able to find anything in NYC that is within reason.

if you have a gpsunit you can probably get to new rochelle, there's costco's and home depot on your way to REI.
