I currently have a StreamLight 2L-3W That I use for work.

I am looking for something with as much output but with longer battery life on high.(low is not enough light for me). With all the new technology and new emitters, I figure there is something that would better suit my needs. I would like to stay close to the same physical size as the Streamlight so i can still carry it easily. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

If you are into modding then you can replace the LED with a Edison Opto or a Seoul SSC P4.
I installed an Edison Opto in mine and it's alot brighter, and better runtime.

Hey FlashKat, how exactly did you mod this? Any soldering involved?

What will the Flashlight be used for? and what price range?

The Fenix CE(L1D-CE, L2D-CE, P2D-CE, P3D-CE) series is good if tough as nails is not a requirement. They have many modes and seem have a good balance between throw and flood. For something with throw, the Lumapower D-Mini might be a good choice. For something with flood, try the Lumapower M3 or the Amilite T5

Welcome to CPF!

1- bought a Edison Opto star from [email protected]
2- uncrew head assembly
3- unscrew retaining ring holding LED assembly
4- push out the LED assembly from the bottom after removing the tailcap and battery
5- desolder the wires from the star assembly
6- lift off old star assembly
7- use artic silver or equivalent epoxy to attach Edison Opto star assembly.
8- solder wires on the new star assembly
9- reassemble flashlight in reverse order.
BECAREFUL NOT TO SHORT OUT THE WIRES TO THE SWITCH OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE SWITCH.

I'm very happy with my L2D-CE and even more so with my P3D-CE. The P3D has a flatter regulation on Turbo than the L2D. Both very bright lights. I can illuminate miles of ceiling when trouble shooting in plenum spaces. Low mode has extremely long runtime and is perfect for up close inspections in reflective areas. Turbo will blind the you know what outta me if I forget to dim it before looking at something up close.

Hey all....the guy is looking for similar size and output with longer burn time....Fenix Lights are great but come on, they are not the answer to every question. And the D-mini? Outstanding light, but the run time is only about an hour.
The light that this person needs is a Pro Poly Lux 4 AA....end of story! Four hour run time, terrific output, tough, cheap....and so on.
It's amazing....I own the majority of the lights talked about on this forum (a true fanatic) but the one I use the most is my Pro Poly truly one of the best designs out there. :twothumbs

Ditto on this and I use it too.
I have other lights but now I'm in the market for 1 AA keychain light (to back up my pp lux.) I have david 2 but its too heavy and not bright enough. May be 1 AA Cree or SSC lights from Dx....!! (following this thread for best fit for me.... :twothumbs)

They may not be as reliable as PP lux but it will be back up so it should be good enough.

Regards.
