Flashlight that got you "HOOKED"?

LED Lenser David 15 based on a review by FlashlightReviews.com. It was my first good quality LED flashlight and I was chuffed to bits with it. Unfortunately, a search for 'Luxeon' revealed that there were even higher powered emitters. Then the Cree emitters hit the scene and Fenix put them in the P1D, and that's what finally hooked me.

Bought a fenix L2D Q5 2xAA after going thru a nasty 2 day power outage.
it was expensive for a light..but my wife said if it's good and you will use it, then just order it. :nana:

Then found this place and bought a Brass Peak Pacific AA
There were not too many single AA lights at the time and the brass was
mesmorizing...price was cheap too at only $45..at the time i did not know
how addicting these lights would become. :sssh:

Needed a pair of keychain lights, so i bought a Fenix L0D q4 and a Peak brass
matterhorn. bye bye solitaire.

My wife saw these AAA lights and liked them..so got her an L0D and a
matterhorn as well. one for keychain, one for purse.

Peak brass discontinued and went on sale. grabbed a brass peak rainier with
a cr123a body and a 2AA body...went on a brass buying spree.

Then picked up a L0D-Ti and saw a few people modding them with seouls.
so then i ordered a few led's and went to work.

Wondered if my Triton r/c charger would charge those AW rcr123 sized
batteries.grabbed a few from lighthound and threw one into the Peak Rainier
and was WoWed!

pre-ordered a nitecore ex10. pre-order a light? seriously, who does that? = addict. yes. 🙂

and the addiction began..wife confirmed the loonyness when i bought a spy 007,
tons more peak brass and then started building P7 mags.

it hasnt even been 1 year.....

I've always liked flashilights but what led me to flashaholism (despite my post count) was a Streamlight Scorpion. I picked it up less than a year ago, was mighty happy with it, and one fateful night googled "bright flashlight". That let me to here, and the rest is history.

I think the first time someone buys a flashlight that costs over $30 is when you should realize you have a 'problem'.

The flashlight that got me 'hooked' was maybe my Novatac 120P. It was when I realized that flashlights can be programmed.

The one at the right bottom:

I got it for free
When we were camping, nearly everyone had a Mag 2D or 3D. Obviously, they were all brighter than my flashlight:mecry:.
After that, I really wanted more. I bought a Minimag 🙂devil🙂 out of fun and then a Led Lenser V². Now I own a Fenix TK20. So what next? lovecpf

These are the two that did it. The Surefire E2 for my first "real" incandescent (followed by an M6 and an E1e). My first "real" LED flashlight was the Arc LS:

Beautiful! I really wished I had an ARC LS with the different battery tubes. But since I only became a CPF-member in september 2006, I was too late :mecry:.
Maybe if Novatac made 2AA tubes...

My brother was hooked back in 2003 and kept sending me cool new lights he thought I should have. I woke up out of a trance one day and realized I had bought the entire lower end of the SureFire product line! 100 high tech, high performance flashlights in my collection and I need professional help. I'm seeing a therapist for it, but I spent the $150 for this week's session on the new Fenix TK40...it came today...to hell with therapy, I'm a flashaholic and happy as a clam.:grin2:

I first remember bieng wowed by portable lighting when "Data" from the goonies whipped out his waist mounted HID system to blind the Fratellis that ere chasing them. After that i remember Fred Savage using his souped up flashlights to go kill monsters in some other 80's movie i cant remember the title of. Growing up here in Hawaii, my father taught me how to divefor fish at night. My first light was a UK 1200. Bright as hell, even underwater in the pitchblack caves. Then i found Mag lights. Was that way for years till this year, i found a TLE-5EX ministar etreme dropin for my minimag. As soon as i was done assembling it and switched it on.....I was floored. That was my true turning point. Then came my Olight m20 r2, and now my Ex10 R2. My wife says I can only have one more. Yeah. Right.

I owned a lot of Maglites and Mini Maglites before I got hooked... I always liked flashlights alot, but none of them every really impressed me. One night, I found the Surefire website and browsed their different lights; I found a local dealer and went to buy one... I came out with 3: A 3P, 6P and a 9P.

The 6P and the 9P got me hooked! I couldn't believe the amount of light that they generated and the perfect beams.

Flashlight that got you "HOOKED"?

A 1xAA A$10 torch that I got off eBay, didn't cut the mustard so I bought more junk on eBay, and eventually discovered CPF and DealExtreme.

At what point did you realize you had a problem?

About 3 years before this, back when white 5mm LEDs where a novelty I bought two of the same torch on eBay (consecutively) despite only having use for one.

Fenix L1P. I paid $45 for it 3 years ago. I debated spending that much money on a flashlight. Now $45 is the bottom end of what I buy. At least the L1P has gone on to a better place... :sigh: ...My wife uses it to read at night.

I guess I was just born with the light bug. Even as a kid, I always loved flashlights. I was never satified with any, until I built my own as a teenager. Took a 6volt SLA battery I scavenged, and a hooked it to a 4.5v lamp, and WHOA, even brighter than a mag 2D, I was happy! for about 20 minutes till the bulb blew 😛
I spent half my adult life (or lack of life hehe), looking for a decent light, until about 4 years ago I got my first 'high power' LED light, an 'Element' from Costco. Thought I was in heaven, till I found this place and met Fenix, DealExtreme, and all the others. I dont have the bucks for any of the high end stuff, but I can still drool! I really have to restrict myself to only lights I actually can find a legit reason to own, and dont have to starve to afford lol.

That old Element, even though I dont use it anymore, has a warm place in my heart. Its beat to ^%#%^&, been so incredibly abused that I still wonder how anything could survive what it has. The only thing I dont think ive done to it is drive over it with a tank or a Semi. Hope the Eagletac P10A2 thats on its way is at least half as durable as that old Element.

I guess my first light that I appreciated as a kid was my mini-m@glite.

The first light that introduced me to higher end lights was my Lummi Raw NS.

And now it's all downhill from there...:aaa:

Pre-CPF: a 2AA Minim*g that I purchased from Eddie Bauer just over 20 yrs ago. Wow, still can't be believe it's been that long!

CPF Era: a Fenix L1P was my first LED light purchase that got me going after I discovered CPF...:broke:
