Hi, I've finally joined this excellent forum after having been lurking for ages.
I have a number of torches (lucido c10, teknolite, eternalight ergo, Princeton Tec Surge, plus more keyring torches than I care to think about....), all purchased in the UK, not easy, I can tell you.
However, it's my latest purchase, the fliklite, that has persuaded me to sign up and post.
I bought the fliklite from firebox.com for £10 less than the advertised price on the official web site, and I have to say I am very disapointed in it.
If you click on the link I have included (sorry - I couldn't work out how to post the photo),
you'll see that the beam is all over the place with a number of hotspots. (As you may observe

- there's nothing else on the site yet although I'm going to put up some comparison photos of the etenalite and the teknolite torches later)

It's only about half the brightness of my eternalite ergo (I've checked the batteries) and the colour shows a strong blue tint. Also, two of the leds have a black mark on them.
The unit itself is very well made and sturdy with a lightly ribbed surface, it is nicely balanced and the mechanism itself works fine and is reliable.
It comes in a metal box (mine was covered in dust!) which securely holds the torch and 3 batteries in separate compartments.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect I've got a duffer as the poor quality beam seems at odds with the excellent workmanship of the unit itself.

If anyone else has bought one of these, I would be very interested to read them.

(Just found out that Maplins is selling the Inova X5 "original" for £49 - buying it over the weekend, when I've checked my bank balance

Why ARE UK prices so flippin' expensive ?

dirobesh, welcome to CPF

This is a beam shot of the fliklite taken from the Torch Review Site (Thanks Chris M. hope you don't mind me stealing your pic

This looks a lot better than the beam from your fliklite, so hopefully it's just a one off

You'll be pleased to know that the man behind fliklite is active on this forum (known as fliker)

Have a look here for further details.

As you said earlier the fliklite seems very well built, so I'm guessing it's just a rogue one that slipped through.

It's definitely worth contacting fliklite as they seem to stand by the quality of their products and will probably fix or replace it for you.

Goodluck

Damn, that beam looks good! It looks bright as hell, mine only seems a bit brighter than my photon II. Guess I must have got a duff one after all.
It's a good idea of yours to contact Fliklite, I must admit I was just going to put it down to bad luck - after all it's the first poor quality torch I've received - but I'll drop them a line and see what their response is.

You definately got a bad`un- both Fliklites I have now, emit great beams. The newest one is a little more purply tinted but is brighter than the original older style. I notice a few light blue rings in the hotspot- and the LEDs are not perfectly aligned, but nothing too bad. It just makes the beam spread a little wider, that`s all.

BTW a review of it is still in the works and not published on the Torch Reviews Site yet. I`m so busy at work and home at present that my reviews have hardly had a look-in, but it`ll be there before the holidays are upon us, don`t worry about that

Perhaps that's the reason the site I bought it from is doing them for a tenner less than the normal price?
