OMG!! I have been craving a Thor since I met you crazy guys, I could not find a supplier here in Canada..
Get this..
I just went into a parts store to drop something off, out of the corner of my eye I spot a monster box on the counter and caught 10,000,00 CP on the side.. Sure as S*** it was a THOR!!(with a different name) I started talking to the guy and he said, thats nothing, check this out.. He went out back and came back with a HUGE box, ploped it on the counter and said, "check this out".. It had the same charecteristics of the Thor but MUCH bigger, it was black and the only writing on the box said "Flouresent 7 hour light" I almost peed myself.. I raced home to type this..
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS THING WAS??

That is it, yes.
So it's nothing special? I would be better off with the 10 MCP for the throw.. Darn, it looked so big..
Still finding a 10 MCP around here on such a fluke is something that made my day/week/month

Fluorescent would make a horrible spot light, there's no way to concentrate the light from such a large source.

This makes sense.. kinda the L4 of "great big light land"

you would use this as a work/area light...im sure the run time is great...and your right...you cant get throw from a fluorescent

I don't have a specific use in my head, I just want a great big bright light..A tad big to EDC but ya never know, I've done odder things.
The floursent light is out of the question, I thought it may have been something special. So now I guess I start accumulating the stuff I need to convert to HID.. When does it stop..

Yeah, it would be a good area light, but you can get a normal fluorescent lantern for alot less than $100 canadian. (about $80 US?)

I search the shelves weekly in Canadian Tire, I just can't seem to find that light.. I guess it is a simple order now, but I already found one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I am going to Canadian Tire again tomorrow, just so I can handle one..
Thank you for the research!

The Thor in thorsider's picture, and the one you saw in the store is the 10M CP Thor. The big flourescent Thor is the same size as the newer 15M CP Thor.

The 15M CP Thor is the one you want for the "real man's" EDC. Just get some 1/4 inch welded chain and hook it around your waist

I hav e a flouresent Thor and posted about it about a month ago. It is a fantastic worklight/camping light with a full 7 HOURS of smooth bright white area light. I basically turned it on in my entryway of my house, came back 6 hours later and it was still going...bright, white, cool, strong.

Thanks for the input, Im going to go find your post.
When I first saw it I thought I stumbled on something new and wonderful in my quest for the Thor, so I tried to forget about it. Well, I haven't, actually I keep coming up with new ways to use it.. So, it's on my list now too.

Its pretty flat. It goes from full bright to low glow very quickly and then stay at the low glow for a while. I don't know how long because I didn't want to push the battery any further.
