Flu Shots?

I asked one of the docs giving out the flu mist stuff about the air guns and they said they had to stop using them (we got vaccinated via needles last year). Apparently there is the potential of cross-contamination between patients, in particular Hep-B (see http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00000744.htm ) so some organizations have stopped using them.

The mist wasn't too bad - we "injected" ourselves, so they could do about a dozen people at a time. It was faster than the shots and they didn't have the sharps to deal with afterwards, so I'm guessing they liked it. The ones we had used only one syringe, with half the dose going in one nostril and half in the other. (There was a little snap-off clip on the plunger that metered the first half out,.)

I never found the injection to be a bother, so I can see why the mist wasn't the big hit the company thought it would be. But I was just glad to get it.

Cheers,
Bob
