FM 18 AA battery adapter question.

I've been using FiveMega's 18 AA adapter to run my 1185. It bugs me that the batteries get drained unevenly. The one half of 9 batteries is always almost comepletely drained but the other half is no wheres near it, some are almost full. What's the problem?

so are the other 9 in series?
if there is so much as like .1ohm to get to the next set of Parrellel wired batteries, in a high amperage draw setup, the batteries that are connected closer with less resistance to the load, will drain much faster.

I think there maybe is bad contact so only one of the stacks are used. I had to bend the bars a little bit on mine to get contact for all cells (I was using Energizer 2100).
To test if there is bad contact just load one of the stacks (i.e. the one with the undrained batteries), and then try to use it in your light.
