Warm tints for wilderness, xpg Q57A giving no green-out at all.

Hello,
I just finished putting a 7A in my quark. First impressions (inside) we negative and I decided I'd probably swap it back. I took it to the backyard and the new effect was significant. I've written many times that warmer tints tend to help seeing past the leaves and bring out more depth. This makes bushwacking less overwhelming instead of feeling encircled with leaves. I find this new 7A tint really does a great job, and the trunks of my cedars seem to pop out, the same way I disliked the leaves doing with cool tints.

Comments?
I'm heading to Algonquin Provincial park soon for a paddle down Baron Canyon, I did the mod for this trip, wish me luck.

Best,

The warmer the emitter the more red and amber is in the spectrum, so warmer objects such as tree bark and typically the ground will have more depth.

Cooler emitters are going to have a higher ratio of green and blue (much higher really) so foliage will tend to jump out.

I'll take the warmer emitter since it will have sufficient cooler spectrum anyways.

I had an XP-E 7a when it first came out. I think it was a P2 or P3 or something dismally dim, but the color was gorgeous! Never got to test it outside.

Have a nice trip linger.

Does anybody know this one from dealextreme ?

I find that even with a neutral Q25A grass does not show up well. I prefer my old TWOJ Little Friend (Cree WD) for that. Just something warm enough to take the blue edge of normal LEDs (Cree WC or Lumileds XO) away.

I wish the guys supplying DX can get their specs right.

Thank you for pointing that out. I really don't get used with neutral and warm tints specifications and didn't realize this. I received it and made some wall beamshots comparisons:

I really like the tint of this DX drop-in but the low and med modes are (slow) PWM and the low is to bright. It is 5 modes + memory...with strobe and SOS :sick2:
