Forward clicky? Reverse clicky? How about both?

Just a (possibly) silly idea I was thinking of, but:

How about lights that have both forward and reverse clickies?
When the light is off, depress the tailcap slightly for momentary on.
When the light is on, depress the tailcap slightly for momentary off.

This way everyone's happy, and if someone doesn't like either forward or reverse clickies, they could simply not use that feature on a light that has both clickies.

People will be happy with everything, except the price. Clickies have to be reliable, small, handle 2+A of current, and cost no more than like 20 cents each to be on a typical DX/Kai light. $1 clickies are the province of the Surefire's and Novatec's. A $3 switch like you suggest would only go into something even higher end than that...

It sounds like a simple idea but it is much harder to create a clickie like that.

Multipressure electronic switch? Something like the buttons on a PS2 or similar.

I'd expect something like that from surefire in the (hopefully not too distant) future on some of their new lights, and maybe as an addon for their older lights. But for now, I'll be happy with my clickie on the U2

Mechanical complexity, as others have said, but I don't see the user advantage over a forward clicky.

The advantage of a forward clicky is it allows for easy momentary or continuous use with a single button.

The advantage of a reverse clicky is that it doesn't go on in your pocket or suitcase.

Can anyone name me a circumstance where reverse-momentary capability is specifically required?

Actually just had one. Bought one of the "click on lock out tailcaps" off ebay. Was supposed to be a forward clicky. But was actually a forward and a reverse. Very sensitive switch. Dont think it was made intentionally like this but thats the way it worked.
