Ok.... lets see if anyone can spot the error on this page before they fix it (I've already sent feedback to make them aware of the error, and they have already confirmed the error and said they would be fixing it :)

Ok, now, with that out of the way... Here's a lego question.

Will the tailcap from an M6 screw on to the back of the KM501?

(I'm sure a few of you may see where I'm going with this)... :) mUAHAHAH

1st...I cant find the error.

2nd...yes the tailcap from an M6 will screw on, BUT with out the battery pack (MB20) installed. I just recieved an M500 that I bought cheap and converted it to handheld. The rest of the body is inside the M500.

Hmmm, very interesting....

So is there any room in there with it installed? like- room for a battery pack of some sorts... It looks pretty tight, but I wonder if the MB10 (3 cell) adapter would fit in there...

Oh yeah...regarding the voltage you mean?

"converting it from a 6-volt system (three-battery) system to a 9-volt (six-battery) system"

Yeah, that's classic Surefire. Some of the M6 boxes are even printed 18V. I guess it's just the easy way for SF to convey how many batteries the light takes without throwing them for a loop. The "6-volt system" is an obvious mistake though.

What is the actual M6 voltage anyhow....I've forgotten. 7.4V maybe?

Must be the price of $358......I expect to see it lowered any minute now!

I was at Cabelas on Saturday and there was an M6 nib for $310. I almost pulled the trigger but I'm not sure what I'd do with a sixth one at this point. Plus there would be tax on top of that.

So anyone know the part number for the extended tube? I want it!!! Yes Im very curious to know if a MB10 can fit. anyone have pics of a MB10?

M6 voltage is 9 volts...

I don't know if the MB10 would work with that set-up or not.

Patriot36 got it,

The MB10 in the regular M500A is also a 9V battery adapter just like the MB20, the difference being that the MB20 has 2 banks of CR123s in parallel to handle the more demanding loads of the MN21 option, or to offer extended runtime (1 hour) at an output that would normally only run for 20 minutes on 3 cells (with an MN20 vs MN16/MN11).

I guess the description should read:

"it lengthens the battery housing, converting it from a 3 cell system to a 6 cell system, which provides the additional power needed to operate the higher-output lamp assemblies."

I think this keeps it simple enough for the lay-person, while being more accurate at the same time.

Based on measuring a portion of the MB20, I would venture to guess that the MB10 is about 50mm long..

If someone could measure the available space in that KM501 that would be great... has me very curious....

Not that I could afford to do this build (a shorty M6), but it's still an interesting concept.

The main place I'm going with this is- AW is coming out with RCR123 size LiMn cells (high current safe chemistry). with an FM bi-pin socket, this could be turned into a rather unique little 1185 build.

lol, that would be fun....

I just checked that link from when I originally posted this, SF has fixed the "error" sometime recently, but now it reads sort of weird lol....

LOL!! It does read sort of weird. It seems that the folks who describe these things are not really the ones who know "these things." Maybe the secretary fixed it....? :p
