From the "What were they thinking file?!?"

Just seems like GM decided to go with the lowest effort.
Other brands can make 4-cylinder engines with more power.
But still comply with emissions and fuel-economy standards.

It's like needing something, so you go with the absolute cheapest, no-brainer, option. Is it the best value? No. But you don't care. It's the cheapest. All that matters. Guess that was GM's philosophy.

That's a common sense answer. Sadly, the regulations prioritise fuel economy above all else. My wife's car has a 3 cylinder 1000 cc turbo engine. Below 2000 rpm it's totally gutless. Above that its fine. My own car has a 4 cylinder 2000 cc turbo that's much the same. Below 2000 rpm not much go. Above 2000 it really is fast. To be honest I miss the low down torque of my old 3 litre engine.
My 2.2L 4cyl turbo diesel has loads of torque from 1500rpm and with all wheel control it's actually pretty quick to get moving for a medium sized wagon.
I still like driving my 24 year old Corolla with its 1.8L 4cyl naturally aspirated petrol motor, also. It's no power house but the motor and 4 speed auto do a good job and it's just so reliable and low maintenance.

The nimrods at my office proposed going to an axe throwing brewery for the holiday party this year.
What could possibly go wrong?

Ugh.. concert and comedy show prices are ridiculous.

(Over at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall here in Portland,OR.)

Ron White wrote about this in his book. He stated that some of the most popular comedians, such as himself, were filling huge stadiums. He went on to share that when a big musical concert showed up, they did so with five semis full of equipment and personnel. He gets paid the same amount but only shows up with a bottle of extremely expensive scotch and a cigar.

They'll charge whatever any/everyone will pay. If stadiums are being filled with tickets costing into the hundreds (or even more), then they'll keep charging that much.
I wanted to see a blues rock musician that was passing thru' town and at first the tickets were 150 - 300. Then as the place got filled and less seats were available, they went up to over 500 and kept going.
Capitalism berbeh.

Needless to for me to say, I didn't go.

There's plenty of free concerts in my neck of the woods if you have a boat.

Same thing with airline tickets. If you book several weeks in advance, the prices are somewhat reasonable. If you book last minute? Forget it! Assuming you can get a seat on the flight, it might cost you over $1,000. Meanwhile, the guy sitting next to you who booked a month back, paid $150 for his seat.
