Awesome, congrats you two. Please let the rest of us know what you think of the light after you have a chance to play with it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Frenchy, what are the configurations (ma, optic/reflector, bin etc) of your 3 Ichishiki?

Thanks

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Curtis, lot of work for me, but here some informations about my three Ichishikis /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

From (Left to right) sorry Right to left /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif :

Ichishiki ver 3.1 ? Nickel plated
TYAJ (very white) SC II converter at 380 ma, s017XA reflector ===============> 520 Lux at one meter.
Ichishiki Ver 3.1 ? HA III Nat (Bead blasted ?)
TWOH (Natural light) SC II converter at 600 ma,s017XA reflector ===============> 700 Lux at one meter.
Ichishiki LE #013 HA III Nat
TWOH (More white than the other TWOH) SC III converter at 550 ma, s017XA reflector ============> 600 Lux at one meter.

All lux's test with the same battery.
Hope this help /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Did either of you two lastest lucky recipients notice the minor 'over-turning the switch' problem that Carpe Diem reported?

Only a few more days for mine to come!!!!

Yes, but it's not a big problem IMHO.

I happen to also have a nickel-plated? Itchishiki CR2 like the one on the right in Frenchyled's photo & it doesn't have that problem though.

Comparing the two, the CPF LE one has a 'warmer' beam with slightly bigger hotspot, gets slightly hotter faster probably due to the higher draw (550vs380mah?), & sidespill is about the same for both. The non-LE one seems a tad brighter to me too. (Pls. don't ask for beamshots as I'm hopeless at those & really don't have the proper environment to do it in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif ).

All in all, I can say that both lights are freaking bright & good-looking that's all! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the info. It would be cool to get your hands on the brass/goldish color one to add to your collection. If you happen to come across the opportunity... please pick one up for me as well in the brass config. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks. Hopefully mine will be here today or tomorrow.

Curtis

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Yes, brass/goldish one is very nice.....If only I could have one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
And if I get one brass, I'll want one Titanium ...

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I got 002 today and this light is a work of art!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Beautiful design and excellent execution!

I really like the recessed lanyard bail. This is a first class light and I am happy and fortunate to have this example of excellence!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

I am noticing the same erratic behavior in cicruit completion that Carpe mentioned. There seems to be something impeding the ground path and I notice that the first thread or two in the head appear to have been anodized and un masked. It may be here where the impediment lies. I suspect that after "break in" whatever is acting up now will disappear.

EDIT: after testing a number of ideas and solutions with no avail, I decided that the ground interuption was due to compression against the PCB some how breaking the ground path. At that point, I took some tweezers and screwed the light engine forward a bit until I felt it snug up against the reflector(?). At any rate, the light now works flawlessly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike,
Maybe you can try this with the ones still in the build process ?

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Thanks Don for your tries /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'll try it tomorrow on mine and let you know here the result...because now family sleeps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Before I shared this solution with you guys, I just wanted to see how long it would take Don to figure it out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Mine is already in the mail and I will be sure to do that as soon as mine shows up. Nice fix Don. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Cyril,
Possibly to some extent but the beam looked good in both cases and I was more concerned with getting the light to behave in an "expected" manner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

PLEASE, do not over tighten the battery barrel when turning on the Ichishiki flashlight. There is also no need to remove/tighten the module in the head. Over tightening the module will crack the reflector or force goo out of the emitter. I found the problem to be with the Panasonic brand battery that I've included with the Ichishiki flashlight. I have an easy fix for the problem. If you get a razor and remove the plastic insulator around the negative portion of the battery. I will post photos ASAP showing this. Seems that depending on the brand of battery, some makers use a thicker insulator which hits the outer bottom wall of the battery barrel keeping the peg in the middle bottom of the battery barrel from making good contact which causes the
flicker. I apologize that I didn't catch this sooner. I had been very busy packing and running to the post office, answering e-mails. Prior to shipping out the Ichishiki flashlight, I was testing each one with a cheaper Battery Station CR2 battery and did not have any problems. I was thicking that all CR2 batteries were the same but they are not. Please take the time to look at the pictures. Again, I am sorry I didn't cath this problem sooner.

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Hi Mike...

I followed Don`s instructions, and gently moved the light engines forward a bit, until they were "snug"...and again, being careful not to use much force.

That procedure has now fixed the minor "turning-the-light-on" problem I previously described...and with no noticeable damage to the lights.

Your "battery" solution undoubtedly also works, but Don`s procedure would appear to solve the "problem", if carefully done.

Take care.

(And thanks, Don, for your help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif )

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

I pulled a Battery Station CR2 and measured it against the Panasonic and got 26.17mm vs. 26.44mm from shoulder to base. The Panasonic seems to overlap more of the insulation. I can't take really good macros but I hope you can see in this shot. The Panasonic is on the left.

Re: FS:Katokichi Ichishiki CR2 Flashlight Order Li

Mike,
I tried your method and another CR2 (Batterystation one) and the problem was not solved.. So I tried to screwed very carefully the module in the head, very smoothly.. about 1/2 turn. Now the problem is solved. Thanks .

Very nice flashlight indeed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
