I don't think any LED's will work with a 1.2V D cell.

You could use a Lion 26500 C cell with a sleeve. If the 1D uses a small spring inset into the tailcap, you should be able to use a 18650 cell as well and direct drive a few different LED's or use a 2-3D Malkoff drop-in or a direct drive Malkoff P7 drop-in.

There are a lot of solutions that will run a LED off of a single 1,2V Nimh-cell.... Just use a suitable driver...

I really like the 1D light, but I'm not looking for a science fair project. I want to drop in a battery, drop in an led module, maybe a ucl, and be good to go. If someone can point me to a good "stock" solution, I'll be ordering some of these fine looking lights.

I would go for a Malkoff 2D-3D Mag dropin with a 3AA cell carrier plus
eneloops or normal alkaline cells, but I dont think the runtime would be very good. You really need a rechargeable li-ion cell to get the best performance
out of a Malkoff.
Using a single alkaline cell to power something like a Cree or SSC would involve custom work.

I should have said, not without a driver. I took it that he was looking for something simple like a Malkoff drop-in.

I currenlty have a 1D Mag that has a Malkoff 2-3D cell drop-in and it's running off one 18650 cell. The run time seems okay for what I use it for; checking around the house. I also have a radial bored 1D Mag that has a Malkoff 2-3D drop-in and it's running off a 4xAA (using Eneloops) 4.8V holder. It is brighter than the 18650 driven 1D and seems to last longer.

Hi Guys,


I have updated post #1 with photos on the finished work :thumbsup:.
Before sending them off to everyone of you, some minor machining work has to be done, also final inspection, assembly and then pack them up. So please be patient, just a few more days :naughty:
It will be on time as the suggested date.

Also, I have managed to reduce the length of all 1.5D orders to 1.25D, slightly shorter and still fit FM 3x17670 with ease.

Hoped its a good news for everyone.

i think i will build an asphercial mag with an neutral white mc-e overdriven at 1400mA per die. powered by one lion d-size cell.

For the 2C Mag, I was thinking about a multi-emitter setup,
R2s or Q5s, maybe 3 or 4 of them, but I cant decided whether to use a
cheap DX board, Maxflex, or the Download 8 x 7135 trick :thinking:

For the 1C, member MWClint build a Mag that used a DBS reflector, hope
he doesnt mind me copying him 😀
