KL4 warm white mod - Head only $110 **SOLD**
This KL4 head was expertly modded by Mudman CJ. The stock emitter was replaced with a M-CE, J 5A. It has a beautiful color to the beam, and perfect flood. It blows away a stock KL4 in both output and tint. I have 2 similar heads, or I wouldn't be selling this one. A quick search will show threads that compare this head with the stock.

I ship USPS Priority Mail, CONUS. Paypal only - I will eat any paypal credit fees. First to post 'I'll Take It', in this thread, will get the light.

What is the tailcap current?

IMR 16340 = 2.5A? or more?

I believe the stock driver was used. More information can be found here.

I would have to rely on mudman cj for the definitive answer.

Yes, it uses the stock driver. I like to run mine on IMR 16340 or a black label 17670 cell. It draws about 1.5 Amps from the battery like this.

I built one direct drive, but it pushed the MC-E over 3 amps and the little KL4 head got very hot quickly. It also did not seem that much brighter since the beam pattern is floody. I feel that the stock driver is quite ideal for a balance between output, LED die temperature, and run time.

The LED is mounted to a copper shim for good heat transfer. The shim is used to focus the beam so that output-reducing diffusion film is not required. I am very happy with the way the beams turned out.

This is a very reasonable price - I sure wouldn't sell mine for this little!

Thank you for the info. And I don't mean to undersell your fantastic work. I had started out at $125 (IIRC) over on CPFM, but reduced it over time, then carried the reduced price over here.

What's the cosmetic condition? Dings? Scratches? Lens?

No scratches, lens has no blemishes, the only thing I can see is two small 'dings' on the one crenalation, and one just below these. If you look at the pic which shows a head-on shot of the emitter, you can make these out. They are at your 4 oclock as you look at the photo. These were on the head when I received it. There is a very tiny spot of wear, along the very bottom edge of the head, but I had to look hard to find it.

No one wants to bring their L4 up to a whole new level? You won't regret putting this awesome mod on your tired old L4. If you are an L4 fan, a fan of warmer tints, and higher outputs, this is for you!

The runtime is the same since the original driver is used and both the original Lux V and now the MC-E are both wired 2s2p.
