LOCO is more like it.
OK, first off, I couldn't figure out where to post these, so I'll start here until that time when I get my hand slapped. I mean they're light-related... and I made 'em, so what the heck.

I veined these switch cover plates and attached various colors of H3 vials (using UV-cured adhesive). Now the switches can be located in complete darkness without first having to make love to the wall. They work even better than I had anticipated. REALLY hard to photograph these with accurate color and contrast, however. So I did some bracketing in an attempt to show as much detail as possible.

Here we are with the lights on - the colors in ambient light are not this vibrant, however. It is actually a bit difficult to tell which color is which when the lights are on.

Please click through to this web page for some other pictures in various lighting conditions.

I'm offering these in various colors, and in various plate configurations (next post will have availability).

Cost for single-vial, single-switch cover is $25. This includes 1st class shipping in the US. multi-switch, multi-vial configurations can be discussed as need arises. This price is good until my current supply of H3 vials runs out (there are taken out of the glow rings). If I have to start paying $20/per for the new rings, this ain't gonna work - if anybody can help me get more of this size of vial, we need to talk!

Cash Paypal (seriously preferred!): $25 to new address: paypal at darelldd dot com
If you must use CC Paypal, it will go to: kimlee at darelldd dot com

Please note: I don't use PM, so if you need to email me, zip it on over to [email protected], or post here.

Please email or post for availability.

I have a VERY few vials left, and can put them in just about any color or configuration of switch plate.

Do you have the plates with the smaller rectangular "holes"? As that is the only kind of switches I have throughout my house. Of course I guess I could always spring for a whole set of new big-button rocker switches (personally I do like them better), but the toggle ones we have now are working just fine and I hate to throw'em out...just thought I'd ask before you glue up too many.

Cool Darell !

Have you checked the "Orb" site , I think he had alot of these tritium vials for sale. They might not be the same size.

Charlie -

Yup, I bought a batch of "standard" switch plate covers in white, so I can do those too. I already have some veined to make sure I could do it. Was tough finding sturdy enough plates to perform this surgery. They don't make 'em like they used to, I can tell you that! I have a bunch of scrap to prove my point!

Dr. Joe - thanks. I'll have a look. I just can't believe the price of the new glow rings!

Well, I made my first "standard" cover plate today. Used a green vial. Came out great. Looks like like the Decora plates but... you know - with a smaller hole.

Man, these things are just flying off the shelves! NOT. This is probably one of the most uesful things I've done for the house ligts (after the LED nightlights that I've built) and nobody wants 'em. *sniff*

Thanks, Dave! All I have is what plates right now. If you end up hating them, I'll pick up some ivory, and we can swap.

Oh... and for being first, living at the other edge of the country, and for ordering two units - you have been upgraded to Priority Mail. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just a note to let you know the switch plates arrived today. Switch plates looks great and the H3 vials are well charged [the glow can be easily seen even with quite a bit of ambient light already in the room]. I personally prefer to have the vial under the switch, but I under-roll my TP too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Flashlight -

Thanks for the note. Yes, these are pretty fresh vials. Should last a long, long time. And good news! I made yours special with the vials on the bottom. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Okay Darell I'm in! When I get home I will send $100 PP for Four of'em (with the regular "small" rectangular hoes - er, make that holes) and guess what? I think you already Are mfg. versatile over- or under-switch vials, as the plates can be mounted - upside down!

Thanks.

Wow - biggest order yet. That wins Priority Mail status too! Money is in... what colors ya like?

These are seriously cool...not to mention very useful. Can you do ivory plates with "small holes?" And, sob, I don't do paypal--can you accept money orders?

Sorry to be such a bother.

Jeez. Doesn't anybody else have the Decora plates!? I have all kinds of those, and nobody (but me!) seems to want them.

I can certainly go get some ivory standard plates if it is a deal-breaker. And Money Order is no problem. Just tell me what you're looking for, and let's see what I've got. I'd better dispatch an email to charlie - I still don't know what colors he wants... and I don't have a whole lot of ANY color!

Hey Darell, I have white Decora plates and would like one with a blue vial. No, change that to green, please! OK, geeze, make up my mind - One Green and one blue, and thats final!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paypal.gif

Darell: Your home is too "modern." I really like the Decora-type switch (looks better with the tritium vials), but I just don't have any where I live, and I don't have the smarts to convert them.

I'm interested in about four plates, and while I would prefer tritium colors in the green, blue, purple range, any color and/or assortment of colors will probably do. Thanks!

So four standard ivory plates. I have no more blue vials loose (I do have a few white Decore plates that have the blue vials installed - also have a double white Decora with blue)

I have green, yellow, purple, orange. More purple than anything else at this point. Purple is probably my favorite color, but it isn't one of the brightest.

So let me know just what you'd like, or I'll make you one of each of the colors I still have loose. I'll get the plates purchased, and get them made while you send the MO. Deal?
