Re: FS: Copper P60 modules. MT-G2 1600+ OTF lumen!

I bet Jvvjvv was using the MT-G2. Looks about the same output as the one I received from VOB.
For those that are on the fence about buying one of these drop-ins, please take my word for it when I say that the
VOB MT-G2 may be the best drop-in I have ever bought. Period... The build quality is like a Makoff, the light output is amazing and the man himself, VOB not only creates an awesome product, but his customer service is right on par with the the best on CPF.
He's a pleasure to do business with and I can't wait to buy from him again!
THANK YOU VOB!!

It "must" be the MT-G2.........I don't have a XHP 70 yet........ :).....looks like this week, maybe. Hoping with the 40% setting, it will run forever without heating up in a small host.

Sorry about the mystery........

I have been playing with a bunch of different drop ins the past few weeks.........the fit and finish on these units are exemplary!!!

Thanks for clearing it up. The bottom line is that the MT-G2 is pumping out a lot of light. I can't imagine how bright the XHP-70 is going to be in that case. :faint:

Think the XHP70 on FET can handle a 2s2p 18650 battery pack?
Also, would there be any way to special order the XHP in ~4000K ?

This would be going in my Kavelight p60 headlamp host which is pretty chunky compared to a regular host so it should be fine with one of these :)

got my XHP70 5000k today in the mail - looks pretty good. very bright with 2x18350 and non-bypassed springs. I'm waiting for the 18650's to charge but plan on running it with 18350's. rivals my triple XPL running the same direct drive driver

edit - now that I've tinkered with the guppydrv, it's pretty slick. Nice job VoB on offering this driver. Dr. Jones and RMM did a good job with this. pretty happy with this drop in so far.

Thanks for the feedback seasam.

psychbeat,

I think that if you make sure the module is a tight fit in your head lamp ( maybe some copper tape if needed) that using the 2s2p pack would be fine. The driver and the emitter could handle the roughly 8-10 amps you would see from it, but proper thermal transfer would certainly be a must.

I can also order the 4000K XHP70. Right now the only 4000K I can find is a J4 bin though. I have one more source I can check to see if a higher bin exists, but their website is down right now so I will get back to you.

Thanks for the feedback seasam.

Thank you! You do very nice work - this is one clean drop in. Really appreciate how you were able to source different LED's and make changes requested along the way all through the process. Just noticed the center/hotspot looks really good, I guess you have the reflector placement down pretty good. I know the XHP70's are known for donut center spots and you seem to have minimized that well.

One thing I noticed is the instructions for guppy are written for a reverse clicky. If you're like me and using a forward clicky (such as a mcclicky switch from oveready), be sure to hold or do a full press on your final tap when selecting modes. So, tap 7 times and then hold the 8th tap or just click the light on as your 8th tap to enter programming mode. It was a little confusing at first until I realized what was going on. Reverse clicky is the opposite, where you have to do a full click to turn the light on and partial presses actually turn the light off. In which case the instructions work as written.

Awesome- keep us posted on the 4000K
I'm going to work an extra day this week to get the PayPal ready haha.
I'm leaning towards a "locked in" 2mode group.
10 or 15% low and DD hi :)

I've got some de-stickied copper tape ready to go!
