Re: FS: Copper P60 modules. MT-G2 1600+ OTF lumen!

Good vibes (and luck) needed gents. I lost my Oveready Surefire 6P with Matt's MT-G2 P60 module. I've looked everywhere I thought it might be and so far have come up empty. :sigh:

Have faith it will turn up! My fingers crossed for ya.

That would be just perfect! Thank you so much!

Many bulbs shipped today. The list has been updated. The remaining bulbs that have yet to ship are all pending the arrival of parts.

Marten your order will ship tomorrow, I will drop it by the post office, my shipping software doesnt work for international PO boxes :)

Everyone please let me know what you think.. Tell me what you like, and also if you have an idea(a realistic one of course) of how it could be better.

Thanks all.

Re: FS: Copper P60 modules. MT-G2 1600+ OTF lumen!

The module is very nice! My two favorite things are having he mode groups and the fat juicy smooth beam. Thanks VoB for making these available to us.

Some thoughts in no particular order...

I have a few other lights and dropins with the mode group concept and I'm not sure why this isn't done more often? I really like the flexibility of it. It is like getting multiple UIs in one and you don't have to commit to only one. Your use cases might change too, sometimes ramping might be just the ticket and other times you want a simpler L-M-H or L-H pre-programmed for you. This UI has those options. Mode group 3 is a little busy, but you can never please everyone in the blinky conversations. If it were me I would go L-M-H-Strobe and call it a day. However you want to look at the individual mode groups, the fact that they are there at all was definitely part of what sold this to me. I will probably use only mode groups 1 & 2.

The ramping is done well, with a clear beginning and ending at both ends, and enough time to react to grabbing it. It is approx 4 seconds from one end of the spectrum to the other. <Insert debate here about the ideal number of seconds to complete the ramping>. How many "infinite" points can you hit in 4 seconds? Whatever your take on that, this is useful and well implemented. If I had my choice I would probably drag out the sequence another 2 seconds to give a little more reaction time to select a level. Overall I like the potential control presented by the ramping mode group. Low is SUPER low when ramped all the way down, you can literally stare right at the emitter and see the grid.

This is very subjective but I would not describe this as a mule. Yes the beam is super fat, but it has more throw than I thought it would. I live in the city but I was able to light up an evergreen tree (~70 ft. tall) that is at least 125 feet from where I was. To my eye it throws similar to an SST-90 in a standard P60 reflector. I'll have to compare side by side to see which throws better, but initial impressions is they are in the same ballpark. It could be deceiving because this is brighter than any single cell SST-90 P60 I've had.

For anyone having trouble making contact. I put this into a 2x26650 TnC host that AFAIK is machined exactly the same as a surefire head (same dimensions). I first tried it without the outer spring and assumed it would work this way, no contact. Then I tried an outer spring with only a couple wraps on it and this still was not enough to give me light. Then I put in the whole outer spring and that worked. So if anyone is having trouble getting light, try using the whole outer spring included with the dropin.

Last thought for anyone wondering if a McClicky can handle a steady 3 amps, according to this post the answer is yes.

Would 2x 123 lithium be sufficient power for these??

Thanks for the feed back OneBigDay

Dirty Wage Guy your on the list.

Mhgaricia, 2 primary cells would not work for this. It would also be a bad idea to use lico rechargeable 123s as the current would be to high. The only 123 size cells I would recommend for this is IMR 16340s.

Re: FS: Copper P60 modules. MT-G2 1600+ OTF lumen!

Hey, VoB......do you have any stashed away? I am going to do another host. I am assuming since (2) imr 18350's are approx 7.4 volts, that (2) 18650's or (2) 22650's are ok to use too. Using one 18650 will drop the performance how much?

thanks.......Jack

My P60 Module arrived today. Wow, it's finished like a piece of jewelry. My first impressions parallel the well-written observations made by onebigday (see post 125.) Great Job Vesture!

Mmm.. Probly like 100%. You could probly get the emitter to moonlight or low with a single cell, but not much more.

I will post details for batch 3 tomorrow. The ship time will be fairly quick now.

Thanks for the feedback. NO 3 li-ion cells will KILL your dropin. 2 cells Only for this one.

Good picture Flyflash. I wish my camera would take images that crisp. Using the blue light gives the image great contrast.
