Got mine yesterday. Very nice workmanship!! Like others have said......quite bright, no hot spot......(except off a wall about 2 ft. away)......very smooth light everywhere.

Been away for a month and came back just in time for this delivery...drop in is beautifully machine but what's even more beautiful are the beam from the MT-G2...creamy white with a very wide hotspot, my kind of drop in. It's in a bored 9P host right now but anyone any idea what would be a perfect host for these?

Really tempted now to get my second one  thank you VoB

Thanks for the feedback slight. I can think of several ideal hosts for this. One of my personal favorites is 6P bored out for 18350s because it maximizes power in the compact size. Next on the list is either same light with an exstension for 2 x 18500s or 2x 18650s. Fivemega used to make a host that was a solid body for either of those setups, I think member nite took over sales for that item in the market place. Not sure if they are still for sale or not.

Whats the beam like on the 70?

"HUGE" is actually the first word that comes to my mind. Its slightly less smooth than the MT-G2, but it just seeps to POUR out in every direction. Using it in the back half of my 1.4 acre yard is like opening the hoover dam to fill up your bath tub. Its WIDE and relatively LONG and spreads all the light very evenly.

The rest of the parts will be here soon, and once they are I will take some beam shots. The prototype I had for the testing is disassembled at the moment.

Seasam I will add you to the list. Thanks

I think the guppydrv turbo timer has a max of 20 min and it can be disabled by setting it < 4 sec.

I have tested this on a similar driver from Vinh. Not sure if it is the same application here.

Re: FS:XHP-70<-- Copper P60 modules. 3000+ OTF lumen!

Any chance of a 5000K XHP-70 version becoming available at some point?

Actually a 5000K 3C just very recently came available in an N4 bin (currently the top) There are some 3A and 4B also available but in K4 bin which is a drop of a few from the top. If you would like one I can order it.

Yes, Cree has just released a new emitter, the XHP-70 which are now finally available to purchase. I have also discovered a new driver that adds a bit of current.

You probly know more about this board than I do so I am betting your right. I only got these boards recently so I have not had much chance to use them. This driver is the FET board that was made open source by a collective effort of members from Budget light forum ( Thanks a million to everyone that contributed BTW). I would imagine this is the same driver Vinh is using.

When I get some time I will try that and if it does work I will edit the OP.

Re: FS:XHP-70<-- Copper P60 modules. 3000+ OTF lumen!

This batch #3 is looking so sweet. I would be interested in that 5000k XHP-70 as well. Now how to explain "need" to my better half.

Is the XHP-70 factory de-domed?

Any chance for some custom setups on the guppydrv? Some runtime high single modes would be nice. Like a 90%, 80%, etc. Would it be possible to get the FET driver with the Dr. Jones' LuciDrv?

Added the module to this host tonight. Handled the heat better than the factory piece for sure. Took it on the dog walk tonight in the woods. Interesting how you can look around and not have to move the light. Must have a 30ft. + hot spot.

jvvjvv,
Thaks for the pic, looks great in that head.

seasam,
your order is updated.

gsteve,
I would be glad to. It will be just a bit before I can though. Once I get get the rest of the components I will try to do some pics showing all the variations of brightness, and color.

Or better still if any of you who has a good camera would be interested, I would gladly sub the job out to you. Seriously.

Is it like WAYYY brighter than the 1600? In what way? More throw , wider spill , just brighter? Does it burn thru the batteries faster?

I am using my MTG-2 in 2x26650 with nickel plated copper head.
Very bright and very happy with. Tail side current is little over 3 Amps.
Excellent job Matt
Thank you.
