Is this the stuff they put on the threads of the various led torches that are sold, or is it another type of grease, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If you're talking about the stuff that DX sells ( see this link: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4579 ) it isn't really a grease. It dries hard but parts glued with it can be broken apart fairly easily. As for its thermal properties, I wouldn't know how to compare it with other thermally conductive products but it does seem to be used by people on cfp as a thermal paste.

I was just after some light grease that I could use on the seals etc, any thoughts on this ?, and thanks for the info so far.

For a thread and/or o-ring lube, try The Sandwich Shoppe's Krytox or NyoGel (available from Lighthound).

+1

Nyogel for threads that have to transmit current and volts.

Krytox , which has Teflon, for threads and 'O' rings that need to be super smooth turning.
