I think folks get better deals than that at Costco with those kirkland brand alkalines. Apparently they are very close to the name brands for, what, half the price? Who knows how old those 48pk energizers are?

The Energizers are some of the worst performing cells I've found, too.

The Kirkland brand cells are $9.59 for a 48 pack at Costco.

Hi there,

Once in a while i pick up a few batteries on sale, but mainly i am hooked
on my rechargeable NiMH cells after getting a 15 minute charger.
When i compare prices it works out to be very economical in the long run.

Also, it takes 6 hours to charge my Lead Acid battery and there is little room
for improvement. That means i have to wait 6 hours before i can use it again
or accept lower run time. With the NiMH's and the 15 minute charger i can
be up and running again in 15 minutes, and i get a weeks worth of run time
because of the way i use them. It's very very hard to beat that.
Even my Li-ions take about 2.5 hours to charge, and that's still 10 times
as long as the NiMH's take.

One problem left is that i often need 9v batteries for various things, and
i dont like the 9v rechargeable NiMHs because of their very low capacity.
I end up buying alkalines for this but i dont like spending 2 dollars on one
little battery.
