Got the G2 and a P61 in the mail the other day (Brightguy.Com) and I have to say I can't seem to keep my hands off of it. Since this was my first Surefire I wasn't really sure what to expect, being a plastic flashlight, but I have no reservations now. Well made and fits comfortably in my hand and has a nice tail switch too. With the P61 this thing lights up the back yard--made the neighbor's dog act like a rabbit in the headlights--didn't know what to do so he just froze staring and that mysterious beam of light. I compared it to another recent acquisition, a Brinkmann LX, and the brightness appears almost the same. When the LX is focused tight it is easily as bright as the G2/P61 but it doesn't have that nice formed and more diffused Surefire beam. All in all I am quite happy with my new G2 and am now looking forward to an E2E/KL1 coming soon too. See what you guys did!

Congrats on becoming a SF owner. It is addictive. The P61 is a great lamp, it provides alot more light than the P60 or the LX. Not much brighter, but more of it. Be carefull when running the P61 with the G2 as it has Lexan lens, it will melt if left on for a long time. The G2Z has Pyrex glass lens which will not.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">This mean P61 give more light in close distance but it won't give much more throw for longer distance. Correct?

I notice from some members posts, they were not too impress about the P61 over P60, any reason why? On the other hand, I also notice some member claim they use P61 only. Very confussing

Thanks

I only use the P61 in my M2's.
The Beams are very impressive.

It's important to remember that light beams look different depending on the conditions, and the eyes that see the beams. Mostly, I find the P61 is well worth the SF123As to run it.

I use the P61 only. It gives a significantly longer throw. I would say it's not really any brighter than the P60, but the hot spot is larger.

That's it. The hotspot is much larger and there just more light overall. I only use HOLAs (P61,P91,MN21 etc) because that's what sets SFs apart from the rest. The quality of the light is impressive, but I can't have a buddy come along with a $15 LX and have the same output as my $100 M2!

Plus the first few minutes, maybe 5 minutes or so, the HOLAs are whiter. The HOLAs really shine with a turbo head as they really punch through the night.

Where can you get a $15 LX? I can't even find them in my Walmarts here in Anchorage. They're inexpensive enough to get one to "play with", actually with the "same" output as a P6...an affordable piece to add to the collection!
