Anyone have one?
How do they compare with the E2L for brightness and throw.
Run time at full brightness?
Thanks

I'm not trying to be rude but if you used the CPF search function there are not only numerous over 20 threads to answer your question there are also numerous beamshots and pictures.

Just a heads up.

For one thing one light puts out 80 lumens and one light puts out 60 lumens.
You will have do do some research to find out which does what.

The P60L which is used in the following lights:
6P
9P
G2
G3
G2Z
C2
C3
Z2

Regrdless of what light the P60L is in, via 3 volt or 9 volt it puts out 80 lumens not 60 on fresh cells.

Unless it's used with a Nitrolon head (drops to around 65 lumens due to the heat after a few minutes).

I'm going to have to agree with djblank87 though--these two lights have definitely been covered a lot on here (and I've only been a member for a few months).

G2 Led = no matches found
Guess I will just buy one and try it or ask on another forum.

Hello J Smith,

If you'll put G2L in the search above, you'll get lots of stuff.

I don't have a E2L, so I can't help you much there. But I do have a 6P with a P60 type led drop in (DX #6090). I've put that same drop in into a G2. It does start heating up after awhile. It sort of depends on how long you run it a one time. Brightness is great. There are all kinds of options... just depends on what you want and how you will use it.

If I can help more, just ask. :naughty:

I think I will just get an E2L or E1L.
Thanks to all you that did give some help.
When the search does not work I post,if everybody always used the search the forums would die quickly.
Its has been a while sense I needed to post a question here as most of the time I do find what I need in a search.I have had a few emails about this post and I am in agreement with them that the feel around here is changing.

I have the E1L, E2L, and just today bought the G2L (from the B/S/T section). The G2L was purchased for SWMBO, as she walks early in the morning ... I'm sure it will drop better than any aluminum bodied light.

The E2L is one of my EDC lights (120P is the other). Batteries in the E2L last slightly longer than forever, with frequent daily use. Nice throw, a definite spot or projector beam. A really decent user light, good output, long batt life, nice size in my hand.

The E1L just came in today so there hasn't been much test time, but I'd expect a beam similar to the E2L with reduced runtime. It goes in the Harley bag & will see only intermittent use. I owned an L1 for less than an hour because it was overly long ... the E1L is much shorter & certainly a keeper. However, it is quite a bit longer than the 120P, if that makes any difference to you.

Hey, man, don't throw in the towel. There are lots of good people here. And even if someone is not being helpful, just assume they're having a bad day and give them a pass (at least the first time anyway).

I have a 6P LED and really like it. The form factor is nice and it comes with the P60L module already installed.

I had a L1 Cree for a short time and the 6PL doesn't throw quite as far (6PL has a reflector, L1 Cree has an optic). Still, the beam is great and it gives you some flood so you don't trip over stuff in front of you.

Just a guess, but the G2L and 6PL most likely have the same beam since they both share the P60L.

Runtime is supposed to be a little over 2.5 hours' regulated in the 6PL at roughly 75 lumens.

Sorry, can't comment about how the 6PL is against the E2L as I haven't used one.

Hey J Smith, I'm new around here but I have a 6PL and an E2L Cree and took some beamshots for another site. I'll post them here maybe they'll be of some use in your buying choice.

You can see that the E2L with the TIR optic throws just as good as the 6PL. But the 6PL has more spill using a reflector. You can also see the difference in tint between the two lights with the E2L more towards the yellow and the 6PL slightly towards the blue. As for runtime I think bigfoot is right with the 6PL going for 2.5+ at around 75 lumens then dropping off while the E2L will do 45 lumens for 9 hours then drop off.

I hope this helps you. I have had lots of problems searching for info with the search function but didn't ask a question because didn't want to get a response like you got.

Perhaps if someone starts a thread on a topic that has been posted a lot starts out with "I've tried searching on this but..." things would be a bit clearer. There are way too many repeat topics on a lot of levels on CPF so people do get grumpy about the perception of their wasted time.

That said, between the 6PL, G2L, and the many, many drop in LED upgrades it should not be too hard to come up with comparisons that have already been done.

And having said that, it's pretty hard to go wrong with a lot of the choices out there although everyone has their favorites and will be willing to give yo a lot of details as to why. In the true CPF spirit, you'll probably hear the suggestion to buy them all.

RE: comparing the E2L & the E1L

Both use the same emitter & same smooth reflector in the KX2 head, so the beam pattern is identical as far as I can tell. According to the specs, the E2L has higher lumen output, but 20' beamshots against a white wall show almost no difference.

IMO, the advantage of the E2L is longer runtime. And the E2L has the long clip which is much easier for me to use. That said, the E1L will probably see more use than I planned. It's too nice to toss in the Harley bag, most likely it will go in my tool pouch, where the small size will hardly be noticed.

regardless of not typing anything to topic,
I have to mention that, since there is no "search" for itself but changed to that "google-search on CFP", I no longer use the search at all --> it is completely useless now. :(
IF there are hits, they are null, somewhere in the hundreds, or screwed up even more.

Thus I can understand ppl asking something that might have been covered again and again
... and I am not a new member
this was the worst change I saw on CPF till now

Off topic but...

I have tried using the Search function between "Calendar" and "CPF New Posts" and that does not work. However, using the Google search with the CPF Only box checked does. By searching on "6PL E2L" (and upper or lower case made no difference) I came up with 165 hits and I'm sure that being more specific would have reduced the number of hits.

I'd suggest trying it.

Back on topic, these SF LED's are pretty much a matter of what form factor and interface you want. I've found that their on line catalog is pretty easy to search and make comparisons. Their pretty honest about the number of lumens for output and even if you are suspicious of the validity of their stats, it still gives you a basis for comparison. As for throw, search on the model numbers and "throw" and that should work.
