I came across a G4 (the same bi-pin as the 1185?) led bulb: http://www.kaidomain.com/WEBUI/ProductDetail.aspx?TranID=3488

I have a mag85 lying around with a hi-temp bi-pin socket holding the 1185 bulb and replacing the incan with a led is an interesting alternative for the situations that I need longer runtime. And I do not have to buy another configuration. Just plug and play.
Or am I missing something here?

Does this fit my mag85?
Is it a led, because it looks like an incan to me.
Will it work with the 9 AA Nimh batteries at 10.8 volt?

What's in that picture is not an LED, it's an incan bulb with a blue envelope. It even has a filament! The blue envelope is probably so that when the buyer turns it on, it has that crappy 5mm LED blue tint.

I was afraid of that.
It did not look much like a led to me, but the description made me doubt the limited knowledge that I have about lightbulbs.
I thought that somehow there was a possibility that the G4 lightbulb could contain a led. Which is probably technically impossible.

Thanks for your reaction!
