Enlightened
I have a gerber reactor 2AA, after being fed up with the green LUX I being incredibly dim, I decided to open it up. After cutting through 2 retaining rings, I now have it completely apart.
The reactor drives the LUX I directly off of 2AA batteries, I ran it off of a 14500 and the output was acceptable but still very green. Now the inside, to my very unexperienced eyes, doesn't appear to be enough space to put in a driver so it will remain a DD light.
I'm considering the following LED:
SSC star
LUX III star
5w prolight from LCKLED (advertisement here at CPF)
http://www.lck-led.com/product_info.php/cPath/37_79_83/products_id/214
my question is this:
1) Keep it as a 2AA DD light, how bad would the Alkaline / NIMH cells sag direct driving a SSC or LUX III LED? (would the SSC even light up as it has a Vf of 3.5v?)
2) using a 14500 and a dummy cell, would I damage anything DD a SSC / LUX III Led?
Thanks.
David.
