Greetings,

I have some special needs and hope that you can give me some advice. I was in a Hummer that flipped and rolled multiple times back in 2003. It put a split in my spinal cord and left me with severe nerve damage in my arms and shoulders among a laundry list of others things. Since then I have had two brain tumors. I tell you these things not for sympathy but to explain that I may be a little slow/dense and I have very little strength when trying to hold something above shoulder height.

I am looking for recommendations for spotlights. I live on a farm and raise pigs and sheep. They are constantly getting lost or having their babies out in the fields or woods. So I have to go find them or I will lose them to coyotes. I am losing too many to them right now so I need to get this figured out.

I have been using Q-Beam Max Million 3 spotlights from Walmart. They provide enough light but are too heavy for me to hold for any length of time and the batteries seem to die after 3 months. When I am in the truck I can use the door for support but when I have to dismount and go searching for critters I have to attach it to a lanyard and hold it at chest level.

I have experimented with putting a "Jumper Box" in a backpack and using a plug in Q-Beam. While it was heavier than a Tank it was actually easier for me to hump the weight on my back and have the light weight handheld Q-Beam than carrying the heavier Q-Beam with the battery in it. Obviously a normal person would have trouble with that much weight on their back after a while and it is not something I can do for very long.

Are there affordable battery backpacks? Is it possible to make one? If so what type of plug in spotlight would have similar reach and power to the Q-Beam Max 3?

My budget is really limited so I am probably looking for something does not exist but you never know.

Any ideas, thoughts, etc.. greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Gregg

I'm thinking you've got 2 obvious options, a HID spotlight which will run slightly longer than the Qbeam but weighs in at about the same or a little more OR a high power LED flashlight (which weighs less and runs longer), to compare their performance to your existing Qbeam I've included these YouTube reviews... enjoy!

Obviously there are far too many possible lighting solutions to fit into this post but hopefully this will at least point you in the right direction, there is absolutely tonnes of information regarding monster flashlights (and HID spotlights) on this forum... BTW welcome aboard! 😀

It would be considerably more expensive, but a SR-90 would perform as well or better than these spotlights, with much less weight.

Your light you are currently using is estimated to be between 1000 and 1500 Lumen depending on it's charge state.

These lights are MUCH lighter than what you're using, have MUCH longer run times, and will give you MUCH better battery life.

You will be extremely happy with either of them.
