Just got my Glo-Toob today, along with a CMG Ultra, thanks to D.K. at Pocketlights.com.

The Glo-Toob is a pretty cool little light, even though it's not a flashlight in the truest sense of the word - think of it as a marker light or a chemical lightstick replacement.

Page is up at www.ledmuseum.org/glo-toob.htm if anyone's interested in some cool photos and my preliminary findings.

Just wondering. How does it compare to a Krill or an Energizer folding lantern?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I don't have a Krill to compare it to. And comparing it to the Energizer is like comparing apples and crab apples. Just enough of a difference to make a direct comparision irrelevant. The Energizer is a good reading light because it can be directed away from the eyes; and both could make decent tent lights. The Glo-Toob radiates a 360° pattern, so it isn't good for using as a path light. If you were stuck someplace and that's all you had, you could hold it over your head or someplace else away from the eyes and maneuver around with it, but that's not what it was meant for.

Looks like a very cool little product. I'd probably pick one up on an impulse if it were about $15, but it's hard to justify spending over $30 for something I don't really have a need for. Would be a cool tent light, but alas I don't camp much.

Glo-Toobs are electronic glow sticks. These are heavy duty LED lights that are waterproof to 500 feet. They were originally designed as an emergency marker light. Other uses for these lights are:

* Scuba Diving
* Military
* Mining
* Commercial Fishing - Long Line
* Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Medical)
* Boating
* Climbing
* Hiking
* Corporate Gifts
* Hunting
* Fishing
* Residential Emergency Light

What is the space inside the aluminum tube used for? I'll guess the battery. Sure wish they'd made it to use an AAA. But then they would have needed fancier electronics to step the voltage up... and then they'd be even MORE than more than I want to spend. Still, a neat little product.

I just found these at "fourseasonssurvival.com" for $15.95. Only difference I can see is that Four Seasons is printed on the body of the light.

Any guess to run time? It may be mentioned but I cannot seem to spy it.
Never mind...found it... 30 hours...

I think I would rather have some more glow rings since it uses a weird battery.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Even though it stated 30 hours, it seems to last much longer than than, I am still on the same battery, i think this is my 50th hour. But it is getting dimmer now.
