Re: mag AA extension tube

Only if the tube plus a switching endcap plus the MiniMag combine to cost less than the $18.95 cost of a Brinkmann Legend 3AA. (I'd probably pay more for the first one, though.)

I like the idea. Someone posted a picture of a 20 year old adapter that was intriguing. The extra space required for the spring separating the minimag batteries from the extender battery makes me wonder how long the combined package would be.

Re: mag AA extension tube

lemlux,
Just a refresher... I posted the reference to the original adapter. I think I mentioned that the overall length of the 3AA Mini Mag was 8 1/4 inches.

You're right, though, the adapter that I have seems to waste a lot of extra space by duplicating the end-cap where it connects to the original mini-mag. Surely, if someone should try to make one, it could be made much shorter.

Re: mag AA extension tube

What would REALLY ROCK is a tailswitch AND extension tube all in one!

It would be unique in that you'd load two batteries into the front and one in the extension and just screw them together. Such a product would then tout two very important elements (instead of only one) which would overwhelmingly convince me to buy it..

Waddaya say Dan?

Re: mag AA extension tube

CNC Dan, how much? We can already get tailcap switches (Kroll switch from BrightGuy.com or RAM switch but I have to order like twenty at $5 each shipped) so a simple extension tube would be great depending on price. What color are they?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Wow, I wasn't ready for such a great intrest.

I only have a few made right now. (6 ??) I had my lathe set up for another job and was wating for a thread gauge, so since the tools that were loaded in the machine were just right for the battery tubes, so I wrote a program and I ran off a few. I don't know when I will be able to make more. I hadn't thought of selling them, I was going to trade them for other LED stuff. If I charged regular machine time, you woudn't want to buy them. I'd like to give them away, but I can only make them when the boss is away and I have an open machine.

(any one have a badboy circuit? how about a 1 ohm trim pot? supplier for a small PB switch for a tailcap?)

I was making them so I could add more volts and drive a few LEDs with resistors in my busted mag-light(leaky bat. ate ground contact in switch).

The next time I get a chance I will run off some more tubes. They are not painted or anodized, just plain alumimium color. I may try to knurl the outside, but the wall is so thin, I will need to make a bar to support the inside.

I like the idea of a tail switch and extention tube. Some one out there is making the switches for things, we just need to find the mfg. and get some.

Re: mag AA extension tube

Ditto on what Slick said. Either way, I want one. Trade for a MADMAX circuit?
