Looking for a hard alumiunm case to store my lights and batteries, below $50 and not too big.

When I saw you posted "aluminum cases," I was thinking of <Halliburton Zero> Photography cases. But then again, those Orion's are good enough for the said $$ as opposed to HZ's $$$!

Hope you find what you're looking for and Enjoy!

I have several of these, but I don't use them for flashlights. They're similar to what you found, a bit cheaper (and less expensive) though.

I've bought several of the cases I link to below and used them for various purposes. This case from Lowes is especially interesting for flashlights because you get both a removeable lid pouch unit (great for smallish EDC type lights) AND a typical pluck foam bottom for bigger lights.
At $24, it's a steal:

I've seen other similar cases at other home improvement stores, and they differ only in that pluck foam is in the lid as well as the bottom.
But the one at Lowes is perfect for flashlights.

Although very hard to find on-line check your local Home Depot. Mine has some very nice aluminum cases with egg crate foam already fitted inside. They were in the same isle as the safes.

Check Cabelas too. Remember, not everything they offer is on-line.

I had decent luck on ebay finding a Halliburton Zero in good
used condition for under a $100 w/shipping...

A size large enough for 15 or 20 small to medium flashlights.

Much fun to arrange everything and cut out the detailed shapes
in Armaflex... Till I realized if I sold off anything I would be
permanently reminded of it...

:sigh:

Egg crate for me next time....

Good point. It'd be nice if there was something like that pull-apart-cubes foam, but where the cubes could be reattached and would cling back to themselves until removed again in a different pattern.

Heck, even without selling stuff, you might want to rearrange the layout at some point to make room for a new acquisition.
