After nearly being hit by several cars at a recent road closure/traffic collision....i'm thinking of getting an orange traffic wand for my C2.

Does anyone have such a wand to fit a 1.25" bezel...that is surplus to your requirements...or just catching dust somewhere..

:thanks:

Gary

Just point the C2 at them 😉

Seriously, though, if I had one you could have it. I have one for a 9V light but that's it, it probably has a bezel of 3/4''..

thanks for reply though marina..

I do point the C2 at them..and even the M3T...but i'm worried about blinding them..and they hit me cos they see dots in front of their eyes...

The SureFire F28 is what you want for your C2.

Any SureFire Dealer (such as Niton999 as one example here in the UK) should be able to order you one.
You could contact Edgar Bros (UK SureFire Distributer) directly for helping finding one in stock in the UK.

If you're not a member of BritishBlades Forum they have a "Brights" subforum - it may be worth your while joining and posting your question there as well.

Don't assume that anything you have will help. If you are close to the scene they will be watching the accident and not anything else.

I think the words on the hand held signs we use mean:
STOP: Slowly Steer Towards Our Position
SLOW: Slowly Look Over the Wreck.

I agree Mike...and 10 years in this job has taught me some valuable lessons..

However, the traffic direction i'm on about is usually far away from the scene..

for example, recently, a woman was killed on the motorway (freeway), and it was my job to close the motorway at the previous junction....

So armed with a volvo estate, 12 cones and 6 blue light boxes...I had to close the junction!

A 'wand' would have made the action of waving oncoming cars towards the exit ramp, so much more easier....

WONT your gladius on strob get their attention? people perk up when they see it flash at them

:naughty:

I didn't think of that...but to be honest...again i'd worry about them losing control of their vehicle's...

In addtion, the Gladius strobe wont exactly 'INDICATE' the lane change, or SLOW DOWN that i'm wishing for...

but thanks for the post anyway...:thanks:

I've tried at least 10 traffic wands, in orange, yellow, and pink. The orange Surefire F28 is the one I rely on when crossing streets at dusk or dawn; it glows the brightest and gets even brighter at the tip. In total darkness, just about any wand will work, but you're best served by a yellow wand with more sureface area.

Get the F28 for dawn, dusk, and overcast days, a yellow Streamlight TL-2 wand for use in the dark.

You might also pick up a couple yellow fluorescent legbands or armbands to wear around your hands.

check this out... a FT3C modded with 150+ lumen red/orange luxeon. VERY bright even in daylight!

I use the SF traffic cone with my U2. It's perfect for my needs. I certainly wouldn't overly rely on it for visability though, some drivers are drawn to the light like moths. That's when I wish I was using a large D cell mag to knock on the side of the vehicle as they drive by oblivious to the emergency responders safety. :whoopin:

With regards to the traffic cone, I believe I got mine from the productwizard.com.

If you live in the UK, you can order it here . A pair of these wand plus a charger will set you back 156 GBP.

I can see me on the radio..

"YEAH, DISPATCH...IN ADDITION TO THIS ROAD ACCIDENT...WE'VE NOW GOT A BOEING 747 ON THE ROAD TAXIING..! "

HAHA:lolsign:

If I can suggest a cheaper alternative, you may want to take a trip to the local toy store and pick up one of those plastic, extending lightsabers. i.e http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0007YDCK4.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg, which, as you know, come in a variety of colors. Just open the handle, extract the telescoping "blade" part, and you'll have four or five sections of varying diameter tubes to use as traffic wands. And if you use any section except for the very tip, you will have a hole at the end of the cone that will allow light to escape and let your wand still do some flashlight duties (or pointed at someone to really get their attention). And what's really fun is if you find a bezel that fits the lowest, biggest-bored section, you can have the whole whoppin lightsaber! A four-foot traffic cone; people will start changing lanes from a mile away.

i use my gadius in the manner your needing due to fallen trees and power lines here, fairly often, ... put your gladius in mode 3 and adjust to medium high or so , now you can toggle back and forth between strobe and direction giving , ( don't strobe directly at them if your worried but a bit to the side or a very fast sweep , that will get their attention ( without danger)so you don't get run over

An LED wand will wash out in in all but the darkest conditions. A Surefire P91 or G&P G120 with a Surefire F28 wand is the only combination I've tried that may--I stress "may"--be noticed by a distracted driver on a slightly overcast day.

The best choice might be a FiveMega 2x or 3x168A Stinger, but only if used with the Surefire wand made for the M3--not a Streamlight wand.
