I just got an x65 today. This is my first high powered greenie and it's most impressive. Took about five days to arrive, and in good shape. I'm kicking myself for not ordering the aluminum carrying case. Apparently it has a measured peak of ~92mW, and averages over 80mW. Good for a pointer rated at 65 mW.

It's spectacularly, honkin, bright. See the second image of the laser lighting up an otherwise dark kitchen. The beam looks wider than it really is, probably cuz I couldn't hold the laser still during the exposure (too much caffeine!!)

However this laser is powerful enough to be tangible to other senses beyond ones eyes. My ears could definitely hear the popping of the balloons it killed (carcasses all over my floor). It will kill most blue balloons out to at least 7-10 feet (not using a lens), though I need to sharpie them to do it reliably. They will usually pop almost immediately, or within a second or two. It will also smoke/cut electrical tape. I tried to light a red/white wooden kitchen safety match from two feet, but all I was able to do was make it smoke.

The pointer itself is surprisingly small and light. They've definitely refined the technology over the past five years. The first 5mW greenie I ordered from Z-bolt in late 2001 cost more, and the X65 is well over 10x as powerful! The total cost came to $139.00, including shipping.

Hi!

Got the same laser pointer some days ago! I'm very satisfied too.
The test sheet show a 87/83 peak/average mW power level.
And yes, I think the alu carrying case was worth the small price difference; it's very nice and handy!

A question: what kind of batteries are you using? I have a lot of spare Enegizer e2 Lithium that off course seems to works really well, but I was just midly concerned about the possibility of causing some damages to the laser diode (due to the slightly higher voltage). Contrary to other laser pointers I had/tried, the X65 seems to show a beam of the same intesity with the e2 or a some normal NiMh rechargeable batteries, so I think it may have some kind of voltage regulators.

Thanks for any info,
Bye!

These are super high quality lasers. I got the X-105, it averages 118 mw and is very stable. Energizer e2 batteries is what they like best cause they have a more stable current delivery.
I am definitely gonna buy another Nova model. And yes, the metal case is incredible! It has storage for many lenses and add-ons. Definitly get a case with your next purchase 🙂

I measured the output of my X105 using alkaline, nimh and E2 Lithiums. The output did not change. For batteries I am using Sanyo Eneloops. The X105 loves them. BTW, mine has peaked as high as 138mw's..😗

If your pointer is that bright, I wonder how bright the 250mW green laser I'm looking into will be.
