Nice little light! The turbo mode is even brighter than my magled 3D. I bought 4 streamlight cr123a batteries to use with it, hope they are good quality and won't turn into a pipebomb. Now I'm already paranoid about it and open the tailcap all the time to make sure there's no leaking/venting. :green: Will go with those $1 amodotech battery when these run out.

I took the light apart (except the head of course), wiped everything clean, then applied dielectrical grease to all the contacts/o-rings, and threads, everything is smoother now.

While the light is nice, I think it's kinda TOO small. It's nice as a backup on belt, but for primary use, it's too small and slippery to hold comfortably. Something like a minimag, or surefire u2 would be a good size/shape to hold in hand.

Maybe I'll buy an U2 when they upgrade to cree led, and I have that much spare cash. :grin2:

Did you get the standard Cree P4 P3D? Hope you enjoy it. :) I use AW's protected RCR123's in mine to reduce the risk of dangerous battery issues. If you order from amodotech they sell their Titanium batteries in pairs, so you have two CR123's shrink wrapped together to reduce the risk of mixing a good battery with a bad one. I would order these to use in your P3D if you want to run primaries.

AW's batteries are available on fenix-store.com or his topic in the Dealer's Corner forum.

Yeah the standard ones, not rebel version, the canadian dealer dosen't seem to have it. From your bounce test in your sig, the rebel dosen't seem to be any brighter thou.

Slippery is a common complaint about Fenix, so I decided to try something, found something at Wal Mart which works well, how well it holds up is yet to be seen..

I've got to say it again--for slippery flashlights I find that a pair (or more) of O-rings slipped onto the body with one lodged in a recess gives good grip. I use this on my HDS and on my Fenix so I can use the "cigar" grip and retain the light while pushing the button.
Unlike the 'tacky' tape wraps the O-rings do not collect pocket fluff.
Glad you like the P3D.

Went out for a walk now that it's dark. Damn it's bright. The low mode is about the same as my minimag with SMJLED, and is plenty for walk around bugspray spiders around the house (which is basically when I did tonight, tired of cleaning spider webs off my car every morning) Turbo is just amazing. :D

I still open the tailcap once in a while to make sure there isn't any pressure build up, and batteries aren't too hot. :tinfoil:

Just tried the O-ring thing on my P2D. I found a smaller O-ring that would fit tightly around the P2D and it settled right into one of the grooves about an inch up from the base of the tail cap. This helps secure the light in my grip, and it also helps secure the light into the holster. It kinda snaps in and out of the holster now. :twothumbs

jzmtl,

You ought to try using rechargeables. In a long run they will save you a lot of money. I run my P3D CE on 1x 17670 UF Protected. It is just as bright as 2x CR123As and with very respectable runtime.

If you are really bothered by the slippery issue, just get yourself a piece of double sided velcro and wrap it round the body Of the P3D and your problem is solved.

congrats on the new light. You just reminded me that I wanted to pre-order a P3D Rebel. Thanks :sssh:
