Another hobby, digital photography, lead me to web page full of great info on how people preceive light, titled Human Vision and Digital Imaging.

Flashoholics may appreciate at it because it talks a lot about how we process color, like why blue is handled differently than red and green. Also has good info on night vision.

It's a long, but worthwhile, read.
 
RonM - Thanks for that - These sites help confirm what we have been working on in other threads - namely that amber/yellow light is the best monochromatic light to use out of all of them for clarity and definition.
