Just got my True 30mw from DX. Awesome, recommendations for batteries?

The standard ones are shitty

NiMH rechargeables are the only way to go. Cheap, efficient and environmentally friendly.

you could always use rechargables, but for primaries, lithium for power, alkaline for runtime

I am interested in this laser, too.

Could you check how well it works with NiMH cells?

Thanks,

Julian

Are they 1.2V? Doesn't that make it worse?
Under heavy load Alkalines sag fast below the voltage of a good NiMH-rechargable. They usually come off the charger with >1.4 V and due to the small internal resistence they are usually better then alkaline. Just recharge them as soon as the performance goes down.

ANybody else?

As soon as a few other things are out of the way, I'll get my hands on some Eneloop AAA's, check 'em out on my Atlasnova, and report back.

+1 on the lithium primaries, as long as you don't use the laser that often. Otherwise you'll be spending a fortune. You'll see a noticeable difference over alkalines though.
