I just got my first green laser. Just for fun I shined it through a Surefire M2 beamshaper. It makes a very cool pattern on the wall and looks like a galaxy or something with millions of "stars". I am not sure what use it would be, but it looks pretty neat.

Oh boy! You're just scratching the surface of greel laser fun. 'Bout the easiest way I know of to impress visitors. Nobody wants to see my lights anymore. They all want to play with the laser.

Hard as it is - try like heck not to do anything stupid with it though, 'K?

It will be VERY difficult. Thanks for the advice though. I have had it less than 24 hour and am already trying to figure out how to modify it to make it even brighter.

With a decent lens, could a green laser have a long-reach searchlight type beam ?

I've been really impressed with Craig's second-best green laser. (I wouldn't ask to borrow his Sunday-best green !!) Thank you again Craig - I will I hope, be getting one.

It's a 2.6mW pulsed output 2AAA device. It's reach is at least 1.25 miles, where it shows a dot about 6' across.
When I reflected it via the ceiling of a medium-sized room, it seemed to give ~3< Lumens worth of light.

I'm thinking, if you have that much Candlepower and 2-3 hours runtime, is there a way to make a green laser a reasonably good flashlight for "normal" use. Can you add a lens or something ?
It could make a really cool EDC light anyway.

Hey all,

Could someone give me the nickel tour short answer of what the big deal is with these green lasers I keep reading about. I know nothing about lasers at all except that they make them in red for little pointer thingies.

Thanks.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hi Cutter,

I don't own a green laser (unfortunately) but have been reading about them.

Green lasers are much brighter than the standard (cheap) red type and the really cool thing with them is that you can see the beam and not just the dot.

I'm afraid thats about the extent of my laser knowledge, for a more technical answer have a look at this link (yes it's the LED Museum again, is there anything craig doesn't know

Right in the middle of the Francis Marion National Forest. Near Moncks Corner. I got most of the lights you list even the 10x. Love them lights.
