Are the green 50mW lasers harmful to cats? I was shining mine in the house for a split second in broad daylight and i swear he saw the beam because the dot was way behind him. I know thier eyes are more sensitive to light than a human and i dont want to damage his eyes.

You must not ***UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES*** use a 50mW laser of any wavelength as a cat toy!!!

Eye damage can occur much more quickly than that cat can blink its eyes or turn away!!!

Keep the power output well below 5mW and you'll generally be safe.

Don't get me wrong here, I do not use it for a cat toy, i have a red 5mW one for that. I just occasionally turn the green one on for a second or two but not to play with the cat. I was just wondering if the cat did see it what harm it would do. I usually turn it off as soon as he turns to look at it.

As long as the spot is directed on the wall far above the cat's ability to jump *AND* the beam itself is no place the kitty can access it, no harm should befall the little critter should he briefly view the spot on the wall or on the ceiling. :)
