Yes, I am a newbie, and I thought I checked the old threads so if this has been discussed, please excuse the intrusion.
However, I see some hacks of the Cateye HL-EL5xx lights, replacing the emitter with a Cree or SSL Seoul. Any one drop one of these in to the Super Spot? Any reason not to?
Or how about that $20 1W LED bike light "from" Bell, sold at Wal-Mart? Dropping in the SSL seems like a cheap way to get lots of light.
Are the optics of the Cateye just that much better?
